Not sure why are u doing here writing post if “life is precious ( as you claimed), might as well spend time with family or look for job “? Why then are u not working ? instead , coming here to write post and waste time ? Em pays you to idle ? You accused pple Stir sh-t here ? If there isn’t so much sh-t from pple like u ( who talk cok and sing song) whom is still around idling instead of working then there wouldn’t be sh-t to stir in the first place …. ! So go and work and sing your corporate song , so spying around , bloody a*
Why we need our own forum board? What benefit does it have? If so free want to stir sh-t , might as well spend time with family and look for job. Life is v short please don’t waste it on this thing.. it’s just a job
FYI, we have our own forum board here, the conversation already started:

The whole forced ranking is corrupted with manipulation and power abuse. Doing excellent base work, super high quality work should be rewarded rather because someone didn’t do well and become a mess, then another become highly visible to clean up, and get rewarded, ranking should be based on highly Quality work, not highly visible work! such reward system only promote short term gain, the company is not efficient because no one rewarded for high quality base work, quite but excellent, no recycle, no rework, however today many of issues are repeated one, why is so? Many want to do highly visible work, no one like to do base work, if you do well, no one appreciates as expected to do, but there are many cannot even do base well get promoted to higher rank, then more work become lower Quality, more decision become lower quality, ask if your problem facing exist long ago? Mostly yes and why not resolved.

This is so common and is one if the reasons I left the company.
@79kfo+16zEvLP3
my ranking was affected as my achievements for the ranked year was deemed "relatively not competitive". To a certain degree, I acknowledged that my assigned task was a lower level work from what I have been doing. However, this important task was assigned to me because they need someone with expertise to ensure minimal hiccups.
So then, I am penalized for not being competitive compared to my CL peers, for something that the organization wanted me to do.
I know I am not the smartest around but this logic does not sound right.
For those who are taking up more mundane (less showmanship) work, just beware that it does not mean much during the ranking.
In fact, if you have been following the discussions, you will know that the ranking is not a fair system. It is not about how well you did your job. It is about how well you are sold to the bosses that what you have done a great job. :(
Left EM btw. happier life now. :)
Those who look at short term interest -this year ‘s bonus and increment ( just like the company’s Mgmt), u are just prolonging your “death” sentence and playing with fire on your career. Make your rounds and check with your peer how much your experience as a generalist is worth in the market place . Another 5 yrs will experience in fossil fuel will become even more fossil which only museum has a place for u. Current Mgmt team in their late 40s and late 50s ( GC) , you think they are interested in mid to long term view of the company? If the ship capsize , they are either reached the shore or near the shoreline …. They will go in sunset enjoying their retirement …. While we young sailors are all either drown in the ocean or trapping water to stay afloat .
why did nokia and kodak failed?
Unfortunately, Kodak decided to cling on to analog cameras far too long, and eventually lost the game. Nokia too has a similar story. ... When its competitors started focusing on data and the internet, Nokia didn't care. The company instead continued to focus on its hardware.
Give some thought to our future whether to stay or leave…
if want to tender then tender on 16 Dec. you get full year aws. if you tender on 14 Dec you lose out half a month of pro-ration (11/12* 3* salary). don't know whether 15 Dec is considered full month or not but think so, cos when I joined 10+ years ago they made me joined on a 15 that was just before a public holiday... so that I get half a month more pro-ration that year. that time the sup and mgr so kind.
@7anyl+16zEvLP3 Join before the 14th of the month and resign after the 15th of the month. You will maximise the payout this way in the job here.
Has anyone been communicated increment or promotion yet?
Bonus and leave balance encashment will always be pro-rata.
You think HR is chop carrot head issit?
If tender resignation in dec, bonus is full or prorata?
oh man yeah.. those CCAs... my friends who left were saying how liberating it is that their new workplace no CCAs
same, was covering 2 BUs, projects and misc CCAs just because TMTS workforce reduction, PIP and resignation. So numb and lack of motivation at work. But it's ok, farming salary for now.
One of my colleagues resigned and now I have to cover him while my boss try to hire another person. But my boss still expects me to do all the monthly reports and stewardships on top of my double cover which is very heavy on me. He is OK to push back some of our planned initiatives, but if I can't get any of my big ticket items completed this ranking cycle, this will affect my performance review right. Anyone here facing similar issue?
@78oom+16zEvLP3 What's not gonna happen? Mass resignation has happened and is still happening. If you are saying that the company won't crumble under these resignations, then I somewhat agree. But if Jan increment is low, be prepared for another exodus.
the bosses will tell you we don't make most of the money from petrol, it's from lubes
Sometime back, I read in a local car forum, calling for a boycott on pumping petrol at Esso and Shell … because it was deemed that SPC was always held their pump prices and was usually the last to raise prices.
The belief of the forum community was that by boycotting Esso and Shell, the oil companies will go bankrupt and will inevitably be forced to lower our prices!
I had imagined how stoopid, narrow and small their minds are.
They thought that ALL our locally-refined products go ONLY to fill up the retail gas stations scattered around the island! Perhaps that’s how the various local SMEs they work for, operate.
When actually, less than 10% of EM’s production goes to local retail, while the rest of our products are exported.
The point of my story?
I’m beginning to have similar thoughts stirring inside me - on the naysayers in this forum, encouraging EM staff to resign en-mass, to “teach” the company a lesson … as they want to see the company / manufacturing site to crumble in the sadistic mindset.
Well, I can tell ya one thing, that’s not gonna happen.
Come on, it’s Sunday and tomorrow we get ready to die for this amazing company! Let’s shout we are ExxonMobil together! Let’s charge at the call of GC. Woo hoo’ winning!!!
I strongly advise everyone to stay as long as possible. I left for self-development and to take care of my family at same time. In my experience, not everyone landed on good offer/prospect. If you think your past achievements are very marketable. You won’t be struggling finding jobs all still while. So, just stay until the storm is over. This is not a very bad company. It is “not bad” compare to many outside.
It will get better. Don’t let negative thoughts corrode your healthy mind & career.
We’ve got a bunch of experienced hires recently, that could hit the ground running.
Process engineering, facilities design, energy management, SHE, refinery coordination, etc., they are all the same - regardless of from which company, or manufacturing / terminalling site you came from.
6-10 years experience? You’re hired!
@77ezt+16zEvLP3 Totally agree. So many senior engineers have left, yet not only are the plants still up and running, the company is also raking in big profits. Cut the overpaid engineers and their costs, bring max profit for the shareholders!
Come on guys, you think your skills are indispensible? A fresh grad can get it within a few months with proper training. The company is never afraid of losing anyone, because that should be the corporate strategy - always have a plan B even C.
Your years of experience may mean something to you, but not to the company. Good weekend EM folks.
Too many people resigning, too many new people joining. They won't care of people resign. They can always get new staff. That's why they hire in batches. Come in, after two years, resign.
company should just build another entity to mine bitcoin la, marketing side can say reduce carbon emission or leverage on CCS while doing the mining. People who can influence this are just not aware with the current trend. Don't be outdated, stay with the trend.
CRISP is well and alive, but whether the mgmt will 20 years later say it was a terrible investment is another story for next time 🤣.
Would have made more if invest in US treasury bills ROFL
Is CRISP project coming back?
K
If Jan increment meets my target, I will stay on and just do bare minimum until they give me PIL. I expect at least 2 more ranking cycles for this.
If Jan increment doesn't meet my target, I'll move myself out ASAP.

My new company can’t wait so long . To me , what’s the point to drag further. If your long time and trusted gf was screwing u , do u still want to wait around to have the last bang before u said goodbye ? Not for me . So much for integrity , honesty , trust which I uphold for so many years . … look at what our leaders like DW and his gang are doing abt climate impact and lobbying etc…. I can’t wait to leave even she wants me to bang her the last time I also can’t get it up. Disgusting sl@@
Agree with @75vjf+16zEvLP3
But one thing to note that if you are comparing peer companies " top MNCs" that is, exxon is no longer paying higher than the rest, no point comparing MNC with SME, in fact XOM is now out of the top MNC bucket in terms of pay for fresh grad.
We are going to have a hard time attracting even a second upper candidate.

For your mental and soul well being …. am I the only one suffering from Dipolar syndrome after the realisation of the discrepancy in preaching and practice ?
For those who plan to resign in Nov/Dec, please wait till Feb 2022 to do so.
- You will have max 2022 leave balance and any carryover from 2021 to encash
- Your payslip will also show your new salary, which will include your increment (enabling your negotiating for a higher pay in your new job).
I am working at a senior position in ExxonMobil manufacturing site (Jurong Island/Pioneer). Throughout my long career, I have seen many people come and go, whether they are FLS, SLS, engineers, leads,
technicians etc... In my opinion, my advice to the young folks, especially those young engineers ( fresh graduates or <5 years experience and even <10 yrs experience), leave as soon as possible for better opportunities elsewhere. Why do I say so? At your age and at your career stage, what matters most is skills development and growth in your career. Think in the long run, 10 years or 15 years from now...what skills do you think you would have acquired by staying here in ExxonMobil, what would make you special/differentiate you from others in different companies/industries? I have seen many folks stagnate because they have become too comfortable with the system here, its true you might be offered a higher starting salary than your peers from other companies but its not worth it if its at the expense of career growth and development. Focus on learning and gaining as much skills as possible. You have a much brighter future elsewhere in other companies instead of ExxonMobil. if I were at your age, I would find another job and resign as soon as possible. The longer you stay here in ExxonMobil, the more you are wasting your precious years of your life.
Shift Superintendent earn $10-12K salary. Even higher still for very senior SS, up to >$15K+ !!
But they got no shift allowance, nor OT - since they are MPTs.
That’s why I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, when young engineers earning <$6K, start to argue and insist their grandfathers to follow their not-so-clever ideas!
I agreed. $6-8k gross salary per month with shift allowance and PH pay, etc. excluding OT.
@74vem+16zEvLP3
$6-8K base got lah. The senior ones.
You don’t know what you don’t know.
