I strongly advise everyone to stay as long as possible. I left for self-development and to take care of my family at same time. In my experience, not everyone landed on good offer/prospect. If you think your past achievements are very marketable. You won’t be struggling finding jobs all still while. So, just stay until the storm is over. This is not a very bad company. It is “not bad” compare to many outside.

It will get better. Don’t let negative thoughts corrode your healthy mind & career.

We’ve got a bunch of experienced hires recently, that could hit the ground running.
Process engineering, facilities design, energy management, SHE, refinery coordination, etc., they are all the same - regardless of from which company, or manufacturing / terminalling site you came from.
6-10 years experience? You’re hired!

@77ezt+16zEvLP3 Totally agree. So many senior engineers have left, yet not only are the plants still up and running, the company is also raking in big profits. Cut the overpaid engineers and their costs, bring max profit for the shareholders!

Come on guys, you think your skills are indispensible? A fresh grad can get it within a few months with proper training. The company is never afraid of losing anyone, because that should be the corporate strategy - always have a plan B even C.
Your years of experience may mean something to you, but not to the company. Good weekend EM folks.

Too many people resigning, too many new people joining. They won't care of people resign. They can always get new staff. That's why they hire in batches. Come in, after two years, resign.

company should just build another entity to mine bitcoin la, marketing side can say reduce carbon emission or leverage on CCS while doing the mining. People who can influence this are just not aware with the current trend. Don't be outdated, stay with the trend.

If Jan increment meets my target, I will stay on and just do bare minimum until they give me PIL. I expect at least 2 more ranking cycles for this.

If Jan increment doesn't meet my target, I'll move myself out ASAP.

My new company can’t wait so long . To me , what’s the point to drag further. If your long time and trusted gf was screwing u , do u still want to wait around to have the last bang before u said goodbye ? Not for me . So much for integrity , honesty , trust which I uphold for so many years . … look at what our leaders like DW and his gang are doing abt climate impact and lobbying etc…. I can’t wait to leave even she wants me to bang her the last time I also can’t get it up. Disgusting sl@@

Agree with @75vjf+16zEvLP3

But one thing to note that if you are comparing peer companies " top MNCs" that is, exxon is no longer paying higher than the rest, no point comparing MNC with SME, in fact XOM is now out of the top MNC bucket in terms of pay for fresh grad.

We are going to have a hard time attracting even a second upper candidate.

For those who plan to resign in Nov/Dec, please wait till Feb 2022 to do so.

  • You will have max 2022 leave balance and any carryover from 2021 to encash
  • Your payslip will also show your new salary, which will include your increment (enabling your negotiating for a higher pay in your new job).

I am working at a senior position in ExxonMobil manufacturing site (Jurong Island/Pioneer). Throughout my long career, I have seen many people come and go, whether they are FLS, SLS, engineers, leads,
technicians etc... In my opinion, my advice to the young folks, especially those young engineers ( fresh graduates or <5 years experience and even <10 yrs experience), leave as soon as possible for better opportunities elsewhere. Why do I say so? At your age and at your career stage, what matters most is skills development and growth in your career. Think in the long run, 10 years or 15 years from now...what skills do you think you would have acquired by staying here in ExxonMobil, what would make you special/differentiate you from others in different companies/industries? I have seen many folks stagnate because they have become too comfortable with the system here, its true you might be offered a higher starting salary than your peers from other companies but its not worth it if its at the expense of career growth and development. Focus on learning and gaining as much skills as possible. You have a much brighter future elsewhere in other companies instead of ExxonMobil. if I were at your age, I would find another job and resign as soon as possible. The longer you stay here in ExxonMobil, the more you are wasting your precious years of your life.

Shift Superintendent earn $10-12K salary. Even higher still for very senior SS, up to >$15K+ !!
But they got no shift allowance, nor OT - since they are MPTs.
That’s why I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, when young engineers earning <$6K, start to argue and insist their grandfathers to follow their not-so-clever ideas!

I agreed. $6-8k gross salary per month with shift allowance and PH pay, etc. excluding OT.

Lest we forget …
The unbelievable way the MC and BoD had rewarded themselves, yet hung everyone else out to dry. Borrowing to pay the dividends - since it lines their pockets with millions along with the bonuses while layoffs and PIPs were happening everywhere, down the company lines.

Similarly for graduate MPTs, how many can really earn up to >$300-350K pa, by the time they reach their mid-50’s ….. unless one is a director of an SME company, or equivalent.

An EM senior technician can earn up to $6-8K/mth base, without O/T. Add another $2K/mth average with O/T.
Tell me, which blue collar job in SG can pau do well? Up to $10K/mth and more!!

Just appreciate what you have now. Accept the fact we are just workers. Outside might be better, similar or worst. But staying here. You do not need to start all over again. Please leave if it is affecting your mental health seriously. Or else, I suggest you all to stay, just focus on working and ignore all negativity (else, it will affect your badly).

D-mb W declared increase in dividend and buy back shares , who do you think these measures benefit ? Who else but D-mb W and all his execs . They hold all the vested XOm shares . Can u see how self serving our Mgmt is ? When time was bad , rank and files were thrown overboard to save the sinking ship despite they did nothing wrong . The ship captain and his cronies were the ones sailed to ship into the iceberg ! When time is getting good , who do they reward ? Themselves once again while ranks and files are threatened with pip… is this the company you wish to put your future in? Will tender my resignation in Dec once I secured my well deserving bonus this year ( after slogging like a dog). Will cross over to a new runway in Jan 2022. Am
Not alone . Cheers

Hey @70lwd+16zEvLP3, you do realize this is a layoff board, not make-a-wish foundation right? Christmas is coming but GC is no Santa Claus.

You need to find a sugar mummy who can do that for you instead. 2 months incremental? I don’t know what dr-gs are you on, but you need to stop taking them because they are making you delusional.

SG LCM- please consider and declare a special bonus for SG employees who stays with EM to take extra work load due to high attrition rate and keep the businesses moving. This group of people deserve special recognition during this unprecedented times. Minimum 2 months on top of the 3 months AWS.
