Nah, nothing until 1Q 2021. In the meanwhile, enjoy your Christmas and AWS, and buckle up your seatbelts for some volatility!

Haha I think it’s fake news... there was nothing on “Tuesday”?

Getting prepared for the worst news on 17 Nov. Apparently the last post stating announcement on Tuesday was also accurate as some organisations received news as well. I hope this 17 Nov comes true again.

Many Americans also passed PIP. Likely had nothing to do with MOM.

@1aigt+16zEvLP3 Got to thank all those whom have reported to MOM. Else we will all be PIP-Ed out until they have reached their required headcount. Shows how credible the management team is now.. told investors that will remove employees via Darren Woods’ “special” performance assessment program. Now they are stuck with this.. lol..

Heard SG study delayed as well. Maybe they need time to deal with the government due to the sh– that they will unleash

I wouldn’t slag Gan, who’s one of the few decent people around and who did his very best to ensure the best outcomes for Singapore folks. Unfortunately, clowns in Dallas / Houston still calling the shots.

They can sell the Singapore affiliate but it’s a big site and there’s only a few capable of affording the place. At the same time, EM really s—$ in negotiating and it will be difficult to get the value we want in this market.

Singapore site won't be gone. It is grounded there but.......
meaning ExxonMobil can go bankrupt and do selling of some of its unit in Singapore as well as other countries?!...

Singapore site won't be gone. It is grounded there but some of our fellow employees will be gone from the cut for sure. Outside consultants will recommend buyers for piece of it. Remaining of us keeps the job but feeling unsatisfied. No loss to the country.

@18rjl+16zEvLP3 This is out of MOM’s hands alralready. If a company is sinking, they’d need to save the sinking ship and its billions of dollars already invested in Singapore.
There is nothing that the Govt of Singapore can, or will do, if it comes to that. What is worse? The whole company shuts down and everybody there gets retrenched? That’s not good for Singapore, right?

Any cheerleaders in Singapore shouting #weareexxonmobil while they announce the layoff numbers in Singapore? And till date, no action or reaction from MOM? What’s going on man with million dollar ministers sitting on their a$$, doing nothing to hold anyone accountable? We pay taxes all the time.

@18vuk+16zEvLP3 I am also worried and guilty of some luxurious upgrading during last couple of years. Luckily my spouse is not in the same industry and we can still support the family. I hope you have sufficient savings to temporarily nail through if happens. Upcoming singapore layoff will be very sneaky, selective and likely come as a silent surprise. We just need to more careful and prepared.

Don’t forget about the 1600 U.S. employees recently separated for “performance” reasons, which was really just a layoff in disguise. So, the U.S. employee cuts are actually 3500. That’s about 19% of U.S. above field employees (ie. excludes field Operations employees which are out of scope for cuts).

  • We are EM together! Pay freeze and headcount cut together! Darren chooses us to take a perpetual rest from office...ermm...Together!?? Wait...almost fell into the comms trap, need to open my eyes bigger.

My spouse is a homemaker, so I really hope that I will not be retrenched.
Looking at the recent layoffs: Australia knocked off 20% of their overall headcount from voluntary retirements, then another 1600 will get booted from Europe and more recently, 1900 from the US.
That’s scary, isn’t it?
So who’s next? IOL (Canada), Singapore?

I will hazard a guess on Singapore’sh– rate: 1xxx, covering the 3 value chains and General Services.
Just the thought of it takes my mind away from work, every single day.

I agree with both. Nothing they can do now but HOPE for higher oil prices and Pray that they are not screwed further.. but Darren told us.. he needs to help Grandma.. living off our dividends.. lol.. he benefits from it too. He must be grandma! And he will bill soon leaving the next CEO to clean up this mess..

We are EM! Together!

Yes. Do not over invest in where you work. For goodness sake both spouses must not be in same company (common sense)! I know of bosses and management so proud of owning plenty of XOM shares. Now looking at their faces in zoom and back at work (laughing underneath 50% poorer, need to hold perpetually calling it long term?)

@18ccp+16zEvLP3 You are either a troll or you are so screwed.. But I’m happy to buy some off you if the price is right. Ex-employee friendship discount, 50% off. Thankfully I have invested in tech and renewables, else I will be like those that are vested in this company.. screwed by management..

I am a mid-career EM local employee, looking for another job - as a preemptive measure, before the bigger layoff is announced (soon), or by next year’s PA, where more NSIs - dropped from this year’s Good & NIs, will be asked to go.
Currently drawing a salary of >$10K/mth - average for many mid-career folks, but the PMTE job offers available now in the SG market, go for $4-6K/mth only (with experience).
So how?
With 50% of my current salary, I can’t even support my mortgage and car loan payments, not to mention my family’s subsistence needs!
If I choose not to jump ship now, I am quite sure that I’d be asked to go before mid-2021.
Still pondering on my life’s (no longer long-term career) options. :(
I am at my wits end. HELP !!!

ExxonMobil to slash 14,000 jobs as effects of pandemic hit oil demand
ExxonMobil to slash 14,000 jobs as effects of pandemic hit oil demand
BUSINESS & FINANCE
October 30, 2020, by Bojan Lepic

  1. S. oil major ExxonMobil could cut its global workforce by about 15 per cent, as the Covid-19 pandemic batters energy demand and prices.

ExxonMobil said on Thursday that the company, as other oil producers, would be cutting costs due to a collapse in oil demand and badly timed new projects. The top U.S. oil company earlier outlined more than $10 billion in budget cuts this year.

“The impact of Covid-19 on the demand for ExxonMobil’s products has increased the urgency of the ongoing efficiency work,” the company told Reuters.

ExxonMobil spokesman Casey Norton said that an estimated 14,000 employees globally, or 15 per cent, could lose jobs – including contractors.

An estimated 14,000 employees globally, or 15 per cent, could lose jobs, including contractors, spokesman Casey Norton said. The cuts would include everything from layoffs to retirements or performance-based exits.

Exxon had about 88,300 workers last year, including 13,300 contractors. "We are not targeting a headcount reduction percentage," Norton said, adding that the "end result" of its country-by-country reviews "may be close to 15 per cent of our global workforce."

Singapore, mere unfortunate PIP/PIL batches took place ahead of the completion of “ resource study plan”. Management not emphatic to employee who have contributed regardless of their years of service and concealed the ultimate intentions. The choice is in our hands, we landed into a $cum lead company, keep our chins up, stay strong and move on, no point dwell in such toxic workplace, by the I was impacted within age 50-60s and have concluded life can still goes on without EM, no more migraine, Tummy cramp etc...
Stay strong !

Hi there! First of all I would like to express my solidarity with you. It must have been difficult to experience this, especially during this time. I know quite a number of people willing to also give the laid-off workers support and solidarity, and we would like to understand a bit more about your situation, and what you and the workers intend to do in response to this. Please email me here smiley8digits@protonmail.com if you are keen to talk. Thank you so much!

A layoff is a layoff = job losses for many of us.
Whether the compensation is deemed adequate, or not, is a separate issue.
When told to go, just go. No amount of reactive energy will change the outcome. Neither will it up the quantum of compensation due to you.
You’re just not needed anymore. Plain & simple.
Thank you for your past contributions!

I don’t blame the SG management actually because there’s nothing much that they can do. The decisions are just made in Dallas / Houston. I don’t know what the folks in SG are expecting honestly.

However, I’d have expected an adherence to local laws and customs, such that if you are taking $$ from the government in the form of JSS, you don’t have a disguised layoff.
