PIP is tough with unrealistic goals and supervisor with interest to take over role to secure own job. Just saying/sharing ... even though that was expected from the start.

Monitored but nothing is done out of it. Jo is always with the Singaporean worker, in spirit. However, whenever there’s hard choices to be made, it’s definitely the corporation over the Singaporean worker. So the article is merely anecdotal evidences of what happens to MNC, not to powerful corporations. Especially not for one who put in so much $$$ into Singapore so that these lowly Singaporeans can work for the mighty colonial masters from the huge and great state of Texas.
The disguIsed retrendment has been closely monitored by Singapore gov, report all unfair layoffs to MOM.

Answering the question of why there’s so much % of NSI each year, management will say it’s all relative, and you always have that. After all it’s healthy competition and will allow people to improve and do better.
The reality is that the company needs to hit a certain headcount target but doesn’t want to pay out huge severance packages that can drain the cash for dividends (think for the grandma and widow), so the NSI% will be high until we have a balanced headcount.
Hope this helps. Not pretty but at least all should realized that there’s nothing much that can be done, unless there’s mass departures that affects base biz execution or if there’s government intervention. Both probabilities are lower than if you were to find a new job vs waiting for the axe to fall on your head next February (country study) or June (after performance assessment) or 2022 June, since NSI% will be 8% continuously until things get better.
President contradicting statements, if EM has such a talent pool, why need to NSI each year to reduce headcount?
Why conduct study plan ?
Poor leaders poor planning lead to breeding and growing NSI employee.
reflected badly on management not conducting the right hiring from the beginning and led to wrong firing.
All eyes on poor leadership in the company leading to continue bleeding.
Still in denial and proclaiming company doing well.
Thumbs down on $ucks leadership in the organization
Unaware that their act has progressively tarnished their reputation
How many years of 8% - 10% NSI can our SG employees take?
So true, @1qspz+16zEvLP3. If you are not planning now, you are planning to fail.
Regardless you get the big gift (PIP) or not, you'll likely to receive a small gift (wage reduction) next year.
Be positive, life still moves on. If you are good and can be employed easily.

Same as a pastor caught pants down in Geylang, proclaiming that his patronage is a gift to the community, lifting hundreds of underprivileged women out from poverty.
All, please plan your exit strategy before you receive the next round of gift.
What a joke!
A leader making a fool of herself in front of her employee.
Oblivious that country agency MOM is probing into the wrongful execution of PIP
Insensitive President claimed that PIP is such a perfect tool, enabling the company to lay off employee effectively without having to compensate committed employees appropriately
Glorified the way how the company mislabeled the employee
Walk away proudly after executing innocent NSI employee in a country that practised different approach from the home country the President came from
Shame on such leader who behave in
Unethical
Immoral
Lack emphatic
Incapable
Untrustworthy
Unappreciative
Failure to take a moment to evaluate her wrongdoing and reevaluate the rightful responsible retrenchment compared to other big oil counterpart
Shame Shame Shame
@1pzss+16zEvLP3 So very true.
As long as new cars and consumer products are there (need plastics), and air travel remains everyone’s holiday necessity, plus taking delivery of amazon.com / eBay orders (need Jet fuel), and marine / container freight for all large/heavy imported goods, from vehicles, construction materials, to furniture, high-voltage electricals (need marine fuel), the oil and chemical industry cannot vanish ... not for at least another 50 years.
Perhaps not until plasma engines, ion thrusters, and heck yes, teleportation, are invented on a commercial scale!

Karen McKee, is it time to step down as EMCC President?
Big question mark on leadership
Don't blame others, if not happy the door is always open. She might be right as some employees deserve to be NSI but more of the senior staff management deserves more NSI. Only good in talking and no constructive solution. All yes man and follow instructions...
@1oqcm+16zEvLP3 She is full of BS..
Karen did say that the employees are “amazingly talent”..., so not sure where the 8% NSI come from?
Booted out of Dow and never ending quarter losses. Best gifts in return?
Did any DH/Manager given NSI or PIP? Answer should be No.
Then NSI is a gift to lower class employee (FLS and Technician)
"NSI is a gift" - Karen
EMCC President did mention that she likes the new Performance Assessment as it truly helps to improve the performance and NSI is a good process to help.
Too bad the economy is not doing well, otherwise - it will be nice to show the company that it’s not the only employer around, using a demoralizing and dehumanizing process to underplay the efforts of employees. Kind of s—s to have such management.
Management and rep trying hard to defend. Leaders being paid should be calm with maturity during tough times and should not be wasting time online here...
@1npqn+16zEvLP3
Your predicament (if that happens) is like a lamb that’s led to the slaughter! Either you didn’t even have a contingency plan, or have been totally nonchalant of the impending “devastation” that WILL come to our jobs, managing emotional trauma and our family’s very livelihood!!!
You may have a house now (mortgaged, I presume), a decent car, school-going children with great tertiary aspirations, etc. But ... the first two could just turn to vaporware and you could be renting a tiny flat from the HDB (for the Low income), to make ends meet with your savings only, or whatever that’s left.
Such is the sad state, when the whole nation, no, the world, go into a period of protracted recession, massive unemployment and hyperinflation (driven more so by the growing scarcity of food supply - quite unlike the typical financial crises).
@1npqn+16zEvLP3 Then s— thumb la lol. Good luck paying off your car loans and mortgage.
@1nhsg+16zEvLP3 You also got go for interview meh? If not, why so confident of not losing job? You are management issit?
Which business team/unit is the most toxic now?
@1npby+16zEvLP3 Because management holds the ship together. Otherwise if we all run around like headless chicken, with no direction, we will all sink!
Blame yourself for not taking action? So many of my friends are attending interviews now lol.
If kenna Involuntary after next layoff announcement (soon), or likely NSI by 2021 .. and cannot get another job again (say, worsening COVID-19 spread worldwide), impacting businesses, jobs / hiring food supply, savings, .. then how?
@1nhrw+16zEvLP3
Of course, PIP does give an NSI truly, “another chance”!
In the eyes of the potential new employer, a person who had taken the PIL option will be deemed to have been sacked. Low points there! Unlikely to be re-employed.
However, a person who had opted for PIP, can still stand a chance of passing it - even though he may be the first group that will be offered to opt for “voluntary” dismissal, when the country-study is completed. Leaving voluntary (i.e., a resignation) will be more accepted in the job after-market.
Don’t you agree?
@1npby+16zEvLP3 they are employees too? I know a number that are preparing for their contingency plan if they were asked to go. Do not that take it to heart.. they are employees too, playing the ranking game just like you and me. If EM falls.. we will just move on to anther.. no big deal..
Just why is our management not taking pay cut?? oh yes, over-leveraged during good times and individual losses from plunge in em stocks. We employees now helping to pay for their losses, no bonus and no increment... ridiculous.
An “incompetent” leader by definition is someone whose action destroys camaraderie, instill gossip, encourage dishonesty, and prevent people from speaking freely. ... “Incompetent” leaders tend to use their own weapons to get noticed and promoted. From all the past comments listed, the description is a perfect fit EM Singapore leaders.
@1ncpy+16zEvLP3 try go interview g$k how it feels getting the best deal for the exit and leaving ops tech bonus unresolve. Those left may not be well compensated. Ops tech got short changed. PIP warriors stayed behind deserve huge respect choosing to climb the steepest mountain, despite an exit option. Please show respect for the unsung warriors.
The UK is poised to bring forward its ban on new fossil fuel vehicles from 2040 to 2030 to help speed up the rollout of electric vehicles across British roads. Game over for Dinosaurus technology...

I did hear similar comment from my supervisor: PIP is to help employees to give them another chance to be more successful elsewhere.
I was literally rolling my eyes when they said this. Guess that's how HR taught the supervisors on PIP communication effectiveness ...
Other MNC Senior executives are taking pay cuts in an attempt to show solidarity with their employees who are being downsized in unprecedented numbers. And while forgoing a few high-end salaries may be immaterial to the bottom line, companies whose leaders don’t follow suit face reputational risks for years to come.
Have all the PIP employee kicked by the company now? Just curious about why people chosen PIP, put themselves into hell and got kicked at the end.
We can see clearly how useless the management in singalore, they are totaly loss. Safety incidents on the rise, and employee trust in management drop to the bottom. Real leadership is tested at time like this, do something practical, lead by example, dont just talk useless things like stay focus, do your lpsa, and load your employee with tons of unproduvtive works. Lead by example by taking pay cut, play more attention to employee feeling, and dont hold useless communication wasting everybody time.
