@34vyi+16zEvLP3 Lol what happened to We are ExxonMobil?
@33udm+16zEvLP3.. good idea. Let us just call it Singapore.. Petroleum..... Company. SPC!
@33sws+16zEvLP3 the short-change of the MPC layout last year was such a disgrace. The union didn't help much, moreover "he" instead of fighting for the full MPC welfare and payout on behalf of us technicians, he took the retirement package and left, calling it end of story. Disappointed.
I am really for the entire SG operations being sold by ExxonMobil to SG. We are the one of the biggest refineries in the world and we could make it work with ExxonMobil management. Sell SG!
I had been 9 yrs in this company... This is my first job since I graduated from my diploma course... throughout this 9 years I had met great supervisor and great mentors...
But sad to say after 9yrs of working here I intend to leave, due to the recent saga of this no integrity world class bull sh– company...
Expect integrity from technician, but last year MPC payout wait till the last min then say pay us 50%!! Wtf... and kept asking us “so what are the things that you guys should do when u all work in this world class organisation?” What bill sh– nonsense brainless question is this?
Now I am going out of this f—ing scam company...
@MentallyTired, if the employee is separated due to the country study there should be some sort of compensation. Of cos we dunno the details as of now, but I would expect it to range between 2 to 4 weeks per year of service with cap likely around 20 years of service?
If employee is asked to leave due to failing PIP then no compensation will be provided since technically that will be consider a performance related departure.
For a 10 year old employee, assuming you are a male I would say your CL level should be 25-26 if you are an MPT. If not, you should probably be looking out already.
Many first line senior supervisors are getting close to a second line supervisor pay. They are stagnant for so many years, always talk loud , action too much, showing their anger and frustration and only know to suppress the lead technicians so as to keep safe their rice bowl. Come on , we lead technicians can also do the same jobs as you but no opportunities are given. Company should look into this layer of fat to trim. New supervisor only get close to half of their pay. We can do a better job than you!
@32jmr+16zEvLP3
You technicians are our front line sacrifice. Be glad you have the honor to tank the PIP.

Hi, I have been with the company for a decade with little external work experience since graduating. I must say I enjoyed and took pride in my job especially the first 7 years (although with some pain dealing with certain colleagues). However, the last few years have been demoralising with too many lateral job "movements" and ECAs with no sight of career progression, mastery or having produced tangible result that I am proud of. Most of selected individuals are already promoted, leaving the secondary choices holding the fort while retrenchment comes. And, morale is low in organisation. I almost sure that my job will affected by the Singapore study.
Question: while I saw other posts discussing potential severance package, does it apply to SG or is the company allowed to terminate employee without any compensation? Appreciate your input.

Which BU SLS / DH had left?
Toxic layoff process. Because of all the anxiety and long wait people will stab you in the back, lie and mislead, whisper gossips and spit and step on you to be noticed.
Folks are now are so desperate they behave worse and worse. Polishing t–ds to say it’s a quick win. End up sh– everywhere.
Don’t trust anyone and good luck to those who stay in this den of vipers and cowards. All lip service and laugh at others privately thinking that when people leave or retired they are safe. True color of the character of people during desperate times.
Depend on yourself and yourself only.

This is long service and long service deserved a proper compensation.
Not trying to be funny or joker.
Other companies compensate full or proper package and no option.
And this is world class compensation my friend even in bad times.
Here in em got 2 options and give you the lowest.
If this is known since day 1 nobody would have work here for 20-30 or even more glorious years.
Can pay top bosses big bonuses but cannot pay one last time proper compensation to peanuts like US the Technicians.
My apologies to your my friend
Have a nice day and long career in EXXONMOBIL to you
Smart and young ones will definitely leave to realise full potential and pay jump outside!
@I want OUT ASAP you are funny. If you want out ASAP, just leave! Nobody is stopping you. Why are you talking as if you have not received any salary for your years of service?
I want OUT ASAP
But pay me for the services for all these long years for the company.
C'mon the Great Exxonmobil dont ever choose to be a cheapskate company.
Sack and pay your hardworking and loyal employees accordingly or your world class reputation is severely at stake in the future.
WE NMPT is just a peanut in MGMT eyes and thought
Is there a way to volunteer for retrenchment?
At least 300 people attended SCP Comm session, 600 men hours lost, time to raise NLI...
Here is my two cents worth. Rather than cut headcount, the Management should look into how to reduce cost on Projects and Maintenance. The cost of Projects are exorbitantly high, coming from the time when I was working in the 80’s. if someone can compare the cost of projects done then and similar projects, you can see what I am saying. Base salary of employees had not gone up that much. Is it due to cost allocation or due to the very stringent and complicated work process and environment that has driven up the cost? If I were the owner of this Company, I will “vomit” blood. No offence meant to anyone. It’s just my way of expressing my frustration of seeing things going off track and it’s coming back to haunt the Company and the future of the employees.
The Company and it’s employees can be saved. Please, look into this urgently.
That's cruel, not surprised though.
25~30%
How many will be gone after SG study?
How was the comms session at the Singapore chemical plant? Useful ah not?
For those of us who have chance to escape, do it soonest possible, wait till you found a dagger on your back will be too late. It will happen from what we have learned so far. It is never a fair game... hiding information from us employees for so many months!
Duh, in Exxon u only need to ask questions/make comments in meetings to make yourself look good. After all, its all about the ranking right?
Who cares if you are the one doing all the hardwork? Sls/complex will just ride on your work through power point packages.
https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/energy-commodities/exxonmobil-stays-the-course-on-singapore-expansion-but-watching-market-closely
Somehow or rather, I feel some of our SLSes/Complexes are an overly paid bunch of people who ask rhetorical or redundant questions to those under them during meetings/investigations, just so that they can show their presence and justify their roles. And then, they will just leave a hell lot of mess and follow ups for the ground to clear after that. They will then continue to sit in their ivory tower while the ground will be fumbling for the follow ups. I rarely see any management who’s willing to go the extra mile to get their hand dirty and show their subordinates on how to get things done.
It’s always very easy to question, but providing a solution and spending the time to do the dirty work of following up is another. If u urself can’t prove that u can do it, then don’t ask the ground to do it. Churning things round and round ain’t fun yo.
HR should seriously look at these layer of fats to trim. That’s precisely where all the inefficiencies are.
Human recourse ppl and policy lack of humility so must revamp HR
DH also leave the company shows how people confidence in this company has been eroded. Struggling to communicate and motivate ppl in tough time shows leadership not just talking in the meetings and town hall presentations, stwardship, speak guided language. It is how to motivate people and engage to build trust at the very moments.
Good SLSs and DHs are leaving the company. Only bootlickers remain..
No one dares to say the truth why we continue to see people unhappy or quitting now. Truth is managers needs to be revamped and has integrity issues, there is nothing wrong at the bottom but scapegoats. For goodness sake, wake up and clean up the mess!
The no.1 reason why Exxon is doomed to fail : Leaders lack foresight and empathy . All they care is their own stock and dividends.
Look no further than GE, where the Jeff Imelt ( CEO after legendary Jack Welch who invented force ranking by the way) blamed the downfall to everything else except himself. Sounds familiar? Over paying many acquisitions ( XTO), denials to the hilt, politicking at all levels of managment, incompetent / compliant board, self interest ......after being kicked out of DOW Jones, GE like XOM continued its course which led to the downfall. Without a total revamp of the entire XOM leadership, the ship will sink as a matter of time. It is now a commodity company, fortunes entirely tied to crude price and nothing else.
SG expensive site to operate, cause of too many FT or indian chief, paying high salary to top management. All money goes to drain.
Managers and SLS are too proud to learn what's going on lah. Arrogant = downfall
