8% PIP to provide that structural efficiencies which DW was touting about with AS on investor day. There’s no voodoo from Mr Woody nor any strategy. Just plain old cost cutting while milking the cash cow and praying that oil will shoot to 100. So will the stock and all the RSUs will be worth a lot more. 300 departures in Singapore is a small price to pay with no pain and lots of upside for DW and his Dallas cowboys.
Good luck for those who are stuck in this toxic environment,or brave yourself to share the actual working environment with the outside world, save your life before the ship sink. Not worthwhile wasting your career with employer who failed to be truthful to its workforce.
This round retrenchment is to put up a show to MOM. The next cycle PIP is coming soon, buckle up!
Helicoptering the young guys (so called High Flyers) to supervisory position is another failure of the system.
Those are fresh graduates out of school for a few years and then got promoted to SLS level, which has been proven to be failure of the management system.
The manament are full of those kind of high flyers unaware of the real world outside exxonmobil, yet making decisions for the business and feeling powerful. b—s—.
This is across the company including US, and it is these people who made strategic error and misled the company to cliff.
Now suddenly become sober and start to talk about connecting the outside world, respect our customers etc...and #WeAreExxonMobil, donno even what that means. Company spirit change so frequently, might be a sign of mental disorder huh?
A distorted system fostered distorted management, which distorted their views towards the real world, which then distorted the life of many hard working innocent employees, SAD.
Very experience and expensive one will get NSI and young one will get layoff package. Finding the cheapest way to cut based on total system cost...
SLS got no power one lah. Same like the rest of the worker engineers. Toothless tigers.
The real drones with power, are the DHs.
How can SLSs be given the power to fire people one? Liddat they will sure sack those direct reports whom they have grievances with, right?
So the direct supervisor sure not allowed to pick one lah! Cannot.
It’s all based on 2020 PA outcome. Period.
Such a stoopid question. Duh!
Just found out today that the SLSes do not have a say in the determination of the namelist. I was pretty shocked to see that only the DHs and Technical Division Manager deciding the fate of the working group, when they do not even communicate that much with us. Worst part is that the SLSes will only know of the namelist on the same day the victims are announced. That just sounds like bad decision making - they may have very well annexed someone who was crucial to the team without them even knowing. But yeah go ahead anywayz - it's not like we expected much anywayz.
@39gaa+16zEvLP3 Have to show that PIP is a good program. Although the target groups are the same..
Why layoff when you can PIP?
This is #weareexxonmobil @ work, under the compete to win work stream.
Our sg management sacrificed these 300, extending their own jobs and benefits for just one more year. Selfish intention and actions, you will see their grin when progressively back to work.
Just like 300, this sacrifice will save thousands! Prepare for Glory. Make a Stand!!! #thisisSPARTA
Very funny that the NSI (PIP) is 8%, much higher than the recent 300 layoff at 7%. Do note that this is an annual affair and looking forward to 3q PIP...
Think of the people left behind with our sh– ranking still in place. More work by smaller teams led by clueless s—ups. These desperate id–ts will stir sh– or make sh– up to maintain their rank.
Have fun with the endless reorgs, turf wars and management talk about care care care. Don’t forget - after all this, you still got chance for PIP.
You can already see the people who will do the bare minimum and cruise until year end (if REALLY got 3-mths. Sure boh???) and leave on their own. The real good ones will monitor and apply on the side and leave as the job market recovers.
Everyone knows that attrition will meet the REAL target. This number won’t show up in the news!!! Be smart. #not300
Chem leadership did a good job communicating to various levels. Answered all questions asked. Sad to hear that it’s a unique experience though.
Esso diesel will be banned soon? Smoke screen from win n pga to mask the fact that SG site is a serious threat to a Greener Singapore Future? It's a shame to work here.
The 3 comms sessions really productive!
1st by country manager sounded like a pre recording.
2nd by site manager starts with “no questions shall be entertained” and when he finished, quickly hung up
3rd by DM: repeat, repeat. Cannot answer questions like why need another 4-5 days before communicating to the individuals when the name lists already known and amount to be paid already calculated (DM accidentally flash on laptop)
Another case of why supervisors are having a victim mindset. We are helpless if our leaders continue to make decisions like this and find excuses to justify decisions made by “HQ”?? or maybe it’s HR?? Nobody has any accountability anymore. Let expats run the show. Most are here only 3 years anyway. Expat good at counting beans and talking.
By the way, no supervisors in Technical or ES will be laid off. All working engineers. Good for them!
Hotel California....damned its a good one really love it lah bro.
I'll be singing
Its The Final Countdown
All The Best and Good Luck
Enjoy Cheers
To all my fellow NMPT Brothers and Sisters
# WE were EXXONMOBIL
$$$ in the pocket is surely better than $$$ hanging on the trees. Congrats to those lucky chaps!!
For the NMPTs, it’s like Hotel California leh ..... “You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave!” LOL!
Sign on until you yourself decide to quit later on, without any compensation benefits. Hahaha!
Otherwise, need to report for work on time every time, don your full PPE, do bump test, perform LPSA for every task that you are about to do / AAA and submit LPO (got quota some more) like kenna tekan and then followed by LI or NLI for each error you make!
Repeat the above cycle, every day, for the remaining part of your working life in EM.
Good luck!
This round is mpt, next round will be nmpt soon.
So far 7%, 8% more to come...
Cheer up Singapore... there is a whole new world outside of EM, if you’re prepared to dedicate time and effort to deliver real work and value. Those desperately hanging onto this sinking rust buckle are the jiak liao bee managers who know that no other companies will be dumb enough to pay them to sprout BS rhetoric as a full time job.
I left 1.5 months ago and looking forward to work for the first time in a decade. Lost a decade of youth to this stinky company and now recuperating from the damage done. Slowly regaining my lost brain cells, common sense, beauty and sense of humour. Good luck everyone.
Lol nMPTs got the short end of the stick. The company simply doesn't want to pay them 1-2 years worth of compensation. Too bad, that's how Exxon values our front line hahaha.
Serious qn, is there still stigma of getting retrenched during Covid time? If you're unfortunately asked to leave this year, would you rather be retrenched or go through PIP/PIL? Putting compensation aside, which would hurt your career prospect more? I feel there is no difference btw the two and you could reason times are bad and the company is downsizing. wdyt?
Useless com sessions that created even more choas and further drove down the morale.
For those who are lucky this round you are getting the compensation and look for new opportunities, while the next round PIP will bring nothing to those to be axed and it is just around the corner.
By the way, this mild action from sg workforce study is not bringing the actual value for the company to survive better so surely there will be further cut using other tools, anyway they will keep creating new tools like b—s— TMTS..
Painful times. Time to switch lane.
Those are lucky workers, for sure. Their work will be redistributed to others. I will be very upset to absorb the work from these lucky workers.
I’m looking forward to:
1) the strait times interview with the lucky workers who are let go, so that they can expose the despicable practices of management.
2) the WIN email to improve my mental health.
Anyone the same as me?
DW is a scumbag and I wish there’s someone to tell him that.

Clarify a typo error on “ UNETHICAL as a ‘responsible’ employee” to be “EMPLOYER” instead of “EMPLOYEES “
Who are you to say that the people in Singapore has ‘no’ honour? For. Company to use ‘Performance-based’ lay-off (typically it is less than 1% but it ballooned to double digit now) when they always claim that they hire the best (cannot say for sure going forward with such reputation) so as to avoid paying severance pay (UNETHICAL as a ‘responsible’ employee),this says a lot about the Company. The disguised lay-offs came just a a few months after the employees were told that it is expanding and need more people (DISHONEST or POOR BUSINESS LEADERS). The ‘Hire-Fired’ policy (BAD EMPLOYER and DISHONEST) when times turn bad which they claimed in the past that it is not their policy. Company continues to pay same dividends to shareholders and cut employees to reduce cost (very “shorten-term” Employer with BAD BUSINESS MANAGEMENT) blamed Bad business environment (COVID and possibly the Trade wars) as the main reason to cut costs (lay-offs as one of them (Poor Strategic Planning and Business Management). These are few of the many qualities of a ba Company to work in. It is wrong of “@37pnd+16zEvLP3” to label Singaporean “has no honour “. Who will want to work in such a Company, whose contributions are not recognised and employees are not treated/considered as an asset to a successful Company. I hope this person will retract or at least apologise for his ‘labelling” of Singaporean. We are very hardworking, highly motivated and dedicated workforce with high skills.
Thought the message from GC is pre recorded until Q&A.
Sad to see a company I once enjoyed working for 10+years go down like this. Did the comm session today by management seem emotionless when they announced the news?
The parents at Dallas are worse. Makes the worst decisions, while wasting resources and never allow the babies to make decisions in Singapore. So get your root cause analysis right?
Jeez. The people in Singapore have no honor. Quite literally the biggest babies in the company. Good riddance to the 300 being let go.
It’s so frustrating. There’s totally no justice @ all that DW is still employed.
MOM didn’t do anything back when they first PIP.
They won’t do anything this time too.
With JT at MOM, please don’t expect anything from her. We deserve what we voted for.
YES VERY BIGGEST CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LUCKIEST 300
Hell is finally over.
WE are all very jealous of you ALL
All leftovers unlucky good dedicated hardworking loyal EMPLOYEES every day every nite just get ready be prepared to be unethically under instruction to be PIP-ing NLI-ing LI-ing kick out for even the smallest mistakes by your leftover bosses.
MOM PLEASE TAKE NOTE OK
Congrats to the lucky 300 who have been selected by EM to pull off this PR stunt. At the minimum, they are being jettisoned from this sinking rust-bucket in a dignified manner.
The real test is the impending PIP. Be prepared to be stabbed left right centre top to bottom by your XOMbified managers and peers. For the remaining ones, please practise self-care and put your own well-being above all. Good luck to all and may you find your next raft /rescue boat soon.
