Not worth the time for 6.5. You deserve much better.

In chem, some of the tech performance assessment is already sparred at a global level- CL21-25. So the Lims, Chens, Tans don’t stand a chance against Smiths, Woods or Mehtas.

Once you reach CL28/29 and higher, where your ranking is sparred at regional level (EMEAP, in our case), that’s where the European-Asian differentiation becomes more apparent.

Some of the execs are good for sure.

But some are just absolutely b—s— and I thought some of the Singaporean coworkers are operating at a higher level- but still not promoted. So I guess you really need a white Godfather to help you out.

Secondly, I’m surprised there’s outrage at the Asian hate crimes in the US. After all, the Singaporeans that are also subjected to the same type of beatings in ranking by the white masters too. Think about that!

You are left too far behind, 6.5 is too low for mid 30s. Hope you are not selling your soul away, at this price is not worth.

At age mid-30, I was already a Section Head, with a $10K salary.
I think you are awfully left behind even by your peers in EM, not to mention in the public sector!

With a salary like >$500K pa, including stock options, a company car and many other perks, wouldn’t you also desire to be an EM executive one day?
Or perhaps, you’ve missed the boat already? ;)

Why do we need so many executives around . Seriously what value do they add to the business ? Nothing ! Clueless ! Only strategy they know is how to fix the pple within ( by laying off the worker bees for self preservation) . Have they ever come out with solution(s) on how to improve the business ? No! This bunch of clueless folks have no commercial knowledge and business acumen on how to improve the business . Those ideas are all from ground up... so I am asking myself what are all these f—ng executives paid to do????

@3zbfb+16zEvLP3

Exactly, I agree. One SLS in EM can hire maybe 7-8 engineers in KL. Imagine the amount of productivity increase. They should move all managers/engineers to KL.

You know what it shows - it actually shows the SG work force is very much well compensated. You have a pay freeze and yet attrition numbers are low. So it means that our pay is competitive. No complaints on layoff.com. Naturally, if you have such well paying jobs, you need to manage the downside of 8% NSI. No different from Goldman or Amazon.

If you are first class honours from school, EM don't deserve you. Ask around, most found out the HARD way lately.

Exxonmobil reputation has gone down the rubbish dump already not by employees but the MGMT themselves.
Outsiders wouldn't know all the dirty shxt unethical practices happening here in em but we employees know very well.
Reward handsomely MPT with a retrenchment package.
Torture NMPT will all sorts of dirty tricks PIP to make us resign.
Yes Shell and other companies is the next destination in the future.
So stop b—s—ting and self praising abt world class company anymore lah exxonmobil.

WE all know what em did to us this summer.
And WE will remember for sure.

Please make sure everyone let their friends and family know that this is not a company to join. Even if you want to join a major, Shell is so much better - 3 months AWS fixed + variable, no 8% NSI, and better positioned for the energy transition. More importantly, they don’t have an a–hole as a CEO

Good times are gone. Those who don't regret are those took the sweet spot, expat assignment, build wealth and bought landed properties. Wake Up. Good times are gone. The chance of getting expat assignment extremely low, the chance to get PIP very high. If u chose stay then learn to survive how to put up PA visible not how hard u work how smart u are, first class can fail miserably in PA here.

The oil business (especially the upstream) will be contracting during the next decades
EM has instituted a new system where the employees’ careers are a mix of musical chairs and gladiator games (commonly known as Hunger Games)

Unlike any other time in decades, the technical employees’ careers are curtailed to 20 years of service or age 50, by layoff or PIPoff, because past that point the employees become “expensive”.

The pension benefit has been cancelled in practice, as “regular” employees are systematically stoped from becoming RE or even NRE. Effectively retirement will be limited to “leadership material”

Technical training is limited to online courses and the opportunities to learn from highly experienced peers have disappeared just like those peers themselves.

The ranking system, a perennial sore at Exxon and ExxonMobil, has been totally debased by targeted NSI ranking to eliminate unwanted and “expensive” employees. The last vestiges of reasonable ranking (the 20% annual drop limit) have been eliminated to allow “sudden death” - PIPoff at the push of one button.

The company sunk from the premier company in the oil industry to being second rate - at the bottom of the majors group.

The top management absolutely refuses to assume any responsibility for the situation created in the last decade and instead awards itself endless rewards, officially “to motivate those who have to lead us out of this hole”. No word about penalties for those who led us in this hole.

Increasingly arrogant, tone-death and outright antagonistic handling of the abysmal events of the last and current year; not only that another oversized PIP was recently announced, but we’re now supposed to believe it’s for our good, that it has nothing to do with personnel reduction. The rate of passing the PIP is touted as 90%, without mention that virtually everybody who was thrown into the oversized NSI last year is not with the company now.

Adding insult to injury, with a sadistic streak, suggests that the leadership’s method of dealing with morale is a classic one: executions will continue on a daily base until morale improves.

No need to sack. Just PIP them. 8% year on year. No more Singapore core. Have a Malaysian core instead.

Typical Singaporean behavior. Only know how to complain but no guts to do anything. No wonder the Ang mohs are in charge, because at least they are good at b—s—ting and sian-ing the local girls at expat pay.

Why so many bs around give comments but no solution ask question but no clue. Have 10ppl asking the same issue but 1 working on problem. Should it be one asking and 10working. Poor new birds get squeezed burn out no wonder newbies don't want to work here.

The problem is that these SG complainers in layoff.com still want to maintain their salaries and quality of life, if they do switch jobs. Blame it on the higher cost of living here and the local kiasu/kiasi/kiabo mentality.
Let’s face it: jobs of the same capacity, requiring similar calibre, would usually command a lower remuneration elsewhere - given the generalist training that most EM engineers receive.
Tell me: what value add will pushing MOCs, submitting LPOs, LI/NLI, IMPACT forms, performing LPSAs, OCVMs, OIMS UIA be worth to another prospective employer?
A generalist at best, an SME certainly not!

The problem with Singapore is that everyone is complaining, but not enough is leaving. Take a look at China - high % of attrition, and at least there’s talks of improving compensation. In Singapore, most are just active on layoff.com but end up working super hard like a dog for the company. No wonder EMAPPL is treating you like a wh–e, because you are acting like a cheap one too. It’s a matter of time they will take away your AWS and freeze your pay (again) and you will still continue to work in a docile manner.
