Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Congratulations Wells Fargo

Every time I think you can’t get any dirtier you somehow find a way to pull through. I smell another scandal brewing for wrongful terminations

Per the handbook it says if they lay-off they are required to give 6 months notice. Is this correct or would they possibly offer a severance package to cover it?

@1swx is saying we blame liberal politicians for Wells troubles instead of the Stumpf Gang and the poor management since.

Doesn't make much sense to me, but okayyyyy.

Sorry, employment is ‘ at will’. Look at your employment contract or employee handbook again. The unsettling truth is that either employee or employer can break employment at anytime. ‘ Wrongful termination’ is a totally different situation.

How is termination wrongful?

If your upset go after Warren, Sanders, Pulaski, they are all against you keeping your job. I would write them a letter and share your discontent.

You are 100% incorrect. The damage to the economy and the need for increasingly large loan loss reserves didn’t occur until Q2. CFO is not going to move cash to reserve until he absolutely has to. It’s not an excuse or conspiracy, perhaps take come time to learn about financial accounting in lieu of posting misinformation.

If losses aren’t as bad as estimated, that money moves right back into cash assets. Layoffs were going to occur regardless. WF is unbelievably over staffed by any reasonable metric, a point which has been discussed a great many times both on this board and by management. That would be true without a pandemic.

Have you all not figured out that the reason we lost money last quarter was for EXACTLY this reason? If you look at the numbers, the loss could have been prevented. They chose not to prevent it. Now, they have reason for cost cutting measures.

And you are not being "fired". You may be laid off... There is a difference, and some of you need to understand what each entails.

As for the @OP, another scandal would not surprise me. Not having another scandal would not surprise me.

Sorry, you can go back to your "sky is falling" panic....

There won’t be any wrongful termination suits. Wells Fargo lost billions last quarter for the first time since 2008. That alone is justification for layoffs. And they’re being very careful to make it look like decisions are based on performance.
Chainsaw knows how to cover his rear. This is not his first rodeo. Layoffs are his specialty. That’s why he gets the big bucks.

I don't like the term fired. Laid off is appropriate and yes, it happens everywhere. Wells Fargo is no different.
You can go to another company and it will be the same thing. I have known folks who have worked a long time and never been laid off. They are lucky. However, it's always a first time.

They can fire you if they don’t need you but when investigators start making stuff up it’s different

People get fired all the time all they have to do is prove there is no need for you! Sometimes you people act like a f—ing princess. Well fargo is no different if a company want to fire you then by by!

Unfortunately they can use the economic downturn to get rid of you, me, and anyone else. We don't have the $ to fight them in court, in which we would have to show proof otherwise.
