@eqe There is a policy that prohibits sharing recordings of internal meetings regardless of whether there has been a warning or not at the beginning of the meeting.

The policy was modified shortly after the sales practices consent order happened to make this explicit and grounds for termination. At that time someone was leaking John S's and then Tim's Management Comm calls to the WSJ.

I just watched the replay (just change your view to Technology, then read Saul’s This Week post). Wow, what a sh–show! Video not working, audio not working for some panelists, slideshow not synching up properly, people cutting in and not muting, just insane. What a clown act!

Time to bring back Martin Davis to sort out Saul

The monthly Q & A meetings are more informative than the Town Hall meetings.

@eqe and @dfo: Sponging off your idea here. It wouldn’t be a bad thing for any manager holding a meeting to know that what they say could be heard by anyone. Not necessarily leaked to the public, but it could be the same concept as paying attention to what you put in writing and post publicly or email. Or recording employee phone calls. Actually if I were a Compliance, I would say all business-related meetings should be recorded by Wells Fargo including C-Suite meetings. Board meetings as well. And then the next up line should have to listen to it and sign off on it. It would stop a lot of the time-wasting bs meetings that gobble up everyone’s time and eat away at productivity and profits. And it would have stopped the multiple cases of greed, fraud, mismanagement, pressure on bank employees to meet sales goals back in the day. I can think of multiple cons, but change often begins with an idea that initially is considered to be bad. Thoughts?

Glad you all had takeaways, good or bad.

I only recently started attending them, and after the last three or four, I'm going back to my not attending them policy.

Sigh.... so much for laser-like focus on remediation and OCC.

I cringed at the “kissing” story. I also feel like the story is a bold face lie. LIE. Name one random AA woman that would kiss a small Caucasian 8 year old boy on the lips during the Jim Crow era. ....

I was amazed that he told managers not to hire consultants, ESPEICALLY US based consultants. THAT needs to get out to the media. Just shows how WF doesn't want to hire American anymore and save a buck.

record away and share with the media via their anonymous methods. if you do it right you'll never get caught.

I wouldn’t have considered a Town Hall call to be considered restricted info, but it might be.

@eqe+16wY1wTC- that would be a horrible idea and a great way to get fired.

Look up the policy on sharing restricted info..

Fascinating how Saul puts himself out there as "above the fray" and seems to think that this is some sort of an American-only cultural problem. Dutch slave traders (possibly Saul's own ancestors, for all we know) played a key role in delivering slaves to the western hemisphere for a few centuries. His "holier than thou" attitude is wearing pretty thin.

The organization has completely lost its way. No problem with some D&I, but it's a business first and that's where the focus needs to be right now.

Okay. Don’t tell anyone this came from me 😉 : Would it be illegal to tape such calls and put it out to the press? “Here’s what Wells Fargo leaders are focused on while shareholders lose money ever day.”
Or “Here’s what Wells Fargo leaders are focused on while still not meeting OCC Consent orders after 4 years.”

Way to lower the bar Saul! This meeting actually made some of previous ones seem relatively good.

Too many "Dwight Schrutes" underlings with own agenda who hi-jacked this meeting?

New slogan should be "WF Technology, WTF?"

When Charlie said we should have candid conversations, I don't think he imagined it would be about an adult black woman kissing an 8 year old white boy on the lips. Or that black people kiss just like white people. Wells Fargo has definitely jumped the shark. Time to change the channel.

I used to like saul’s calls because he was at least semi fly being transparent when so many oc members are not. Now it just seems like phony time wasters with no real candor at all.

Hey I am 100% for D & I. Literally, though, they shove it down our throats so hard that it almost makes you want to take dig in your heals and take the other side. I have always thought that people respond more positively to a soft sell than a hard sell.

And more importantly: Who is minding the store???? Take care of business first, THEN be a leader for D & I.

True story: September 28, 2008, our predecessor Wachovia’ s stock collapsed to trading below $1 in pre-market trading. There was a run on the bank and the FDIC was preparing to seize us. There were rumors floating that Citigroup was going to buy us. It was mass hysteria and confusion, phones ringing off the hook. The news headlines were all over CNBC. So I work in the Brokerage arm in St. Louis. That morning, seriously, the firm kept sending out emails assuring that a corporate LBGTQ meeting would still be held in the auditorium later that day. What????

90 minutes and nearly zero real content, even from the Q&A session. I wonder how many questions got filtered out before ever making it to Saul.

Is this how the OCC wants us spending our time? Wells Fargo is so out of touch with us all and the way we feel about wanting to do our jobs each day, not spend it doing this male cow feces.

OK, D&I and safe space, yada-yada-yada. Can we get back to business? This is corporate distraction – top executives are not diverse so let's not pretend.

It’s so weird and scary. Feels like the Twilight Zone. Almost one hour in and nothing of substance. Just general chit-chat, platitudes and truly bizarre diversity stuff. “I kissed a black person at the age of 8 and since then I’m not seeing color”. WTF

I was expecting Thunderdome and all I got was a D&I town hall. No wonder they didn't send out an agenda beforehand. If everyone had known it was going to be all back-patting and drivel, no one would've shown up.

Wow the Town Halls are coming out of the woodwork aren’t they? Management wanting to “give the appearance” they are engaging the employees and being transparent? Burying us in corporate double-speak without saying anything of substance. What is that saying “If you can’t dazzle them with your brilliance, than baffle them with b—s—.”

My assumption is they want to keep us distracted, act like they care enough to meet with us and provide the opportunity for questions, though they know people are too afraid to ask the tough questions. They need for us to stay productive, not engage in sabotage, and keep those pretty chins up until the axe starts falling.
