Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Feeling sad all the time when working

Just keep feeling sad. Not sure it’s because of the whole layoff thing or the pandemic or both. Probably it’s just me.

Our company is a dumpster fire. We are trying to live through a pandemic. Our government is a joke. Plenty of legit reasons to feel sad at work and elsewhere.

I hope management realizes how toxic it is, especially with everything going on in the world, to be working day after day under a shadow of uncertainty. I’m a 4 who performs a critical risk function and been told I’m probably going to be OK, but there’s only so much I’m willing to bear, for so long. Even if I turn out to be safe, the anxiety of others I interact with deeply hurts me. I understand that cuts need to be made, and there’s no good way to go about it, but if this drags on too long or I sense a lack of candor, I will look elsewhere or even take a sabbatical without something else lined up.

"those displaced will be better off in the long run. "

Yep.

It may get worse, but you know from your own life experiences that s*** gets better.

So make sure you notice the good times and acknowledge.

Many of are about to feel sad for a different reason (layoffs). Some will be jubilant, fervently hoping this day would come.

Either way, those displaced will be better off in the long run.

The layoff cloud is real.

You already know what to do to change your mood.

Dance, play some music, work out, get out of the house, vent to some one who will listen. But not too much.

Find some motivational speakers, go full Tony Robbins if you must, or read your holy books if that's your thing.

Or watch The Three Stooges on a loop, whatever works for you.

Limit your time watching/reading the news. Make sure you understand the latest virus updates (it's a "novel" corona virus, because it's new) but don't wallow in it.

The layoff cloud with the pandemic cloud is ungood for your brain.

Then laugh at yourself for being so gloomy, because you know it's going to get better.

Pet a dog. Or a cat, I guess, but dogs are so much better than cats.

I'm struggling with this myself, but the key is to understand what the layoff cloud is, and to do things to get out from under it every time you feel it overhead.

I used to pride myself on just keeping my head down and checking off goals and moving forward but everything feels stuck around me right now even to try to get the simplest of decisions made or to get people to take action. I’m also flooded with emails from people who have a habit of doing things like asking questions without bothering to read or show up for meetings that’s irritating me more than usual - I think I’m finally seeing how much handholding I’ve had to do in my job and it’s really impacting my morale as i worry about what the next weeks will bring. How do I break this? Just get motivated to start looking again? I think I knew all along this was a broken organization but the decisions I see being made on high levels have made me realize nothing is changing and it’s time to go

Drive to a state with legal weed and stock up on THC infused gummies. They sure make my days more enjoyable!

The hard part is most of us, stuck with this firm even through the hard times. We defendEd the company knowing the people are good and we were trying our best to right the ship that was wronged by mismanagement. Now it is just sad, they blame a corporate culture that was destroyed by inadequate reviews and people not leading. Most people cared and tried to help save Wells Fargo but with what is happening now it does not appear that the outcome will be successful. Charlie is here to reduce staff and then will leave with a big golden parachute. Wells will never have the success it once had as the people made it successful not management.

If you’re not feeling sad you’re not paying attention.
