They are leaving on their own with no severance and some with no job waiting for them, in this economy! Just think about that for a moment. Think how bad a workplace must be for somebody to decide to leave with no guarantee of finding a new job any time soon, with no safety net severance could provide?

I just quit my job at BofA due to years of abuse from a coworker. How did they respond? They gave her my job. I’m so happy to be free of that toxic environment. Not sure why the heck I waited so long.
@hpn I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm stunned about people commenting here and not stopping one moment in their day to have compassion for you re: your father's passing.
I know two colleagues who quit in the past 2 weeks from the stress, no safety net, no job. Excellent employees who could not take one more day of the torture at WF. WF is callously thrilled about this attrition and does not care about employees' mental health.
I'm not naive, but we've reached a level of inhumanity at WF that is unparalleled during prior difficult times.
Is it legal? Maybe.
Is it ethical? Maybe.
Is it moral? Absolutely not.
Lots of peeps shouldn’t and don’t want to be managers. Not everyone has the same career path.

@fgk You don’t know the whole story. Stop making generalizations until you do. I hav known people who were RIFed several times and used to be managers but are not now.
same.. saw person in IT with 30+ years as nothing more than an individual contributor... part of the issue. we let slugs stay here for so long.
to be honest, you don't know people's personal decision to quit. maybe they came into a windfall of money. people are dying. Money is changing hands. during this pandemic, I lost my dad. He left me a chunk of money. I paid off my mortgage and still have close to 1 years worth of salary left over. I could quit if I wanted to. But I won't. I'm gonna put that money into a CD and not touch it for 12 months, unless I lose my job. trust me, I wanted to quit and kick back a bit. but now is not the time. people are worse off than I am, and I know that. I'm not spending my money foolishly.

Well I know of one person who retired abruptly recently. I ponder quitting every single day. If you have a big cushion in savings or a well paid spouse, it isn’t scary but it is a big decision.
I have also been wondering how many two income families are deciding to change their lives with COVID and schools and such. The death toll does start to make you think if you’re spending your time the way you want to, especially if you have other options.
