Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Where did the money go?

Flat wages since 1972.
The oil crisis broke the back of unionization and the result is a three tier system of welfare, day laborers, and ruling class. You can move between classes but it requires luck and a profound ability to ignore crime when it happens right in front of you.

Honeywell has reaped the rewards of that flat wage curve. The most important thing is not the customer, or the product, it is the profit. If they have to grind up families or ship defective parts... all good as long as the dividend is funded.

Cote calls that choosing between bad, and less bad. By saying this he just assumes that everyone accepts the priorities of milton friedman. I dont and other people like me agree.

The unions will ride the progressive movement back into power and i will be at the front of the line with my union card. It will happen in new jersey and it will happen in florida.

Time to fix that curve.

US manufacturering has been in recession over 3 years now. And the tax changes strongly promote automation and offshoreing. Ignore all the media (right and left) and what politicians say they will do. Nothing in the last 20 years has fundamentally changed the course we are on. The US economy is 75% service industry now.

Tariffs and counter tariffs are doing a lot to prevent offshoring, specially AERO and PMT. There is also general reluctance to hire foreign visa workers. Just wait till these go away and see what happens

Uh, really?

Who's in "charge" now and where are the jobs going?

Never let facts interfere with a good story!
