Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Does anyone know at what level these ratings came from?????

I'm just curious if anyone knows who was a part of the rating process.

This is very informative. When I worked at a competitor, the manager 4 levels up from me would have been the DR to the CEO, and I was also an IC there. Here at good old Wells, there’s another 3 layers.

I have no idea how these layers of managers approve anything but the overall distribution. I guarantee the guy 4 layers above me knows zilch about my performance, probably doesn’t even know anything about the function either.

I really do wonder what these people do all day and what their contribution amounts to. It’s just proving once again that this a shell game.

I did my ratings and 2 up reviewed casually and approved then the manager 4 up (we are like a great southern biscuit with a billion layers) shoved them all back down. This place is nuts

I'm sure it varies but your leader and probably one level up. Keep in mind that ratings (when we actually had them) were often inflated. They're being deflated now – 60% will be a 3. A tiny number will get a 5 (5%?), and a 4 will have to have some pretty solid justification (15% IIRC).

Rumor has it many are not liking any of this nor the job family changes.

In my LOB, the manager recommended mid year ratings and next 2 levels approved or denied. In my case, I rated someone a 4 and had to give an in-depth justification. In other words, I had to fight for my team member to get the well-deserved 4 rating.

Your direct manager does the rating but at least for the annual ratings they are also reviewed with the next 2 levels up at a rolled up view.

I’m a manager and I rated my direct reports with no input from my leaders.
