Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Putting 2 and 2 together...

You may or may not have yet seen that the Thanks! post from earlier today is a copy and paste from The Zenith Education Layoffs page from Lay-off.com back in 2017. (Lots of hits and upvotes.)

So that leads me to this next thought. There are several posts here nearly every day that are random, vague, encourage interaction, could be relatable in virtually any corporation facing layoffs. (Do you still live in the city you were born in, Are you looking for a new job?) Also posts that include a tidbit of a fact from previous WFC posts, that makes it appear like it is from a Wells employee, but doesn't always feel genuine? Similarly, I’ve been seeing more copy/pasting of past posts that generated a lot of feedback.

I think there is a good chance Lay-off.com is paying people/employees to drive traffic to their website. Makes sense now that you think about it. I’ve noticed that advertising/ads have picked up, and that would certainly be the way to increase the number of hits to their site everyday and sell more ads.

Me thinks we have been bamboozled. Thoughts?

I just realized that I haven't been asked if I have a best friend at work for a long time. And you know Charlie doesn't care :(

Frankly I think 50% of posts are created by Wells employees and the other 50% are trolls (or ex-employees).

It's easy to filter out whats junk, meaningful posts are easy to spot. Arrow up or down helps.

If you come across a trolling post, just ignore it and move on. If they cross the line, notify mods.

There are good posts, there are bad posts.

You select what to read and what to respond to.

OP here. No pressure on anyone to believe me. I will try to back myself up by saying I am a long term employee at WFA. I have a 7 digit Employee ID. I can tell you which mutual funds are in our 401K, that I mistakenly held on to the 50 shares of stock “gifted” to us a couple years back. I have filled out every ridiculous employee survey (Yes I do have a best friend at work.) I’m not an HR shill. And I have no idea what a tinfoil hat has to do with anything lol.

Look I’m just trying to tell my fellow Wells Fargo employees to not put too much of yourselves out here. I have been far too naive and trusting. Have been trying to help posters by providing information, and have stood up for those who I feel are being wronged. I stood up for the EAs in a post the other day and I’m the one who wrote the “To those of you who seem to be on the pro-Charlie train” post 3 days back. Really putting my gut in to it.

I can’t prove the Lay-off.com is up to nefarious activities. But it’s the only conclusion that makes any sense to me. Follow the money trail as they say. But in the end, it doesn’t really matter who it is or why. What matters to me is that you realize there might be more fakery out here than you may have thought. It may not just be the angry trolls. It is also, I believe, the seemingly friendly harmless nebulous post. The wolf in sheep’s clothing.

They are still good informative sincere posts out here and we are using it for free after all. I’m only saying that for me, personally, I will be smarter. Keep an eye out, follow your gut and do what is best for you.

You can write a bot to read a company's forum here and based on it have itself automatically write up and post questions. It's not that difficult. Especially when you have access to the data and don't need to sc-ape it. It is happening already though I don't know if/how sophisticated these guys are. Most of the news you read - yes the news alerts - have been are written automatically by financial news sites for a few years now.

Ignore the OP, he’s been hanging around for a while, calling everyone else a troll on every thread. Probably an HR shill

Take off your tinfoil hat, this site has thousands of different forums and with today’s global economy I seriously doubt they would have a need for driving more traffic. More likely we have a troll who is trying to mess with our heads or even trying to mess with the site’s SEO by creating a duplicate content.

Yep, I don’t respond to the vague posts..or repeats fhF are clearly not specific to us

We still get benefit from sharing information on the site. But...

I find it ironic that we are being deceived by a website where we share information about our employer, WFC, who has deceived us.

As I see it: Lay-off.com is poking and prodding people, through fake posts, who are already in anguish over losing their jobs. Playing us really. And how many companies are represented out here? I was totally cool with the ads, thinking most posts were real, but I’m never cool with someone taking advantage of me.

Lesson learned.

Could be. I can usually tell though when its an actual employee responding or not. I have read a lot of info on here that has turned out to be true.

Makes sense. Is there another “lay-off” site that we can all go to instead? I did not really see anything on a quick Google search. Just curious if anyone else has come across one
