I was floored when I was hired it was X and exactly X. Most mine at home are 25+ random characters managed by a password vault.
If they do this right it'll be easier than remembering the password you have now.

@1bvt what you are saying is very true but I still have trouble imagining having to type 16 characters Every time a log back in. Maybe I am just less coordinated than everyone else but the odds of having to retype that is pretty good

The longer passwords are actually easier to manage and remember while still being exceptionally tough to crack. With the shorter passwords, complexity is critical. With the longer password, the sheer size of the password makes it tough to crack. One common approach is to use 3 dictionary words - something you are, something you have, something you know. If you add any caps, special characters or digits, that makes it even tougher. SunDevil2carsAccounting would be a really easy to remember password that would be really difficult to crack. Plus, you only have to change it once per year.

Awww I’m with you, OP. It will be nice to have it reset only once per year though.
Against policy, but companies have to realize the unintended consequence of constantly changing passwords, or difficult- to - remember 16 character passwords, is that most people have it somewhere around their desk.
I have it in my wallet. But in case I forget my wallet, I also have it in a random folder in a stack of folders, but it’s written in code because ....wait for it.... it’s “backwards” . 😉.

This is so not a big deal. You only have to reset it actually instead of quarterly.
