After severance ends, are we eligible to collect unemployment from respective states?

In California after the 60 day warn notice you can start collecting unemployment. You can collect both severance and unemployment. Just check the box that says you got severance so it’s declared and your good to go.
You can get unemployment along with your severance.
It depends on your state. I absolutely got severance and unemployment and did not have any kind of penalty. (Not going to share my state.) It's pretty easy to confirm what's true for you, probably shouldn't rely on an anonymous chat room.

YES you are! I collected unemployment after my “package” ended. You would be foolish not to. But typically, you will have to report weekly on your job search activities which is understandable.
Yes this is true. If you are laid off, you will have to wait for your severance (salary continuance) to end to file unemployment. Make sure you file after it ends. Years ago you could get severance and unemployment at the same time. You cannot collect both at the same time. I know people that did and they had to pay back all the unemployment they received. I tried to tell them that they couldn't. It even says this in the severance package.
FYI, I was laid off a few years ago and here's something to keep in mind (assuming it hasn't changed, and is the same in your state).
WF declares your severance as wages, which can cause you to be "flagged" by your state as collecting unemployment while you are ALSO collecting a WF salary. You may get a letter that says you appear to be still earning $ from WF, and you must fill out paperwork to clarify . It warns that you may have to repay unemployment – very scary, right?
Don't panic. If you fill out the form explaining your WF wages are "severance" and that you have not delivered any services to the company since you started receiving it, you should be OK.
A rep at my state unemployment office explained it as... WF doesn't like that you get to collect unemployment at the same time you are collecting severance, because unemployment costs them as well. So they report severance as wages. Not sure if that's accurate but, like it or not, severance is not considered pay – at least not in my non-hub state. It's essentially a parting gift, for lack of a better term, and has no bearing on eligibility for unemployment.
I'm surprised WF hasn't found a way around this, though. Friends at other companies had their severance reduced if they received unemployment.
I'm in the New York city area and when I was laid off and received severance, I was still able to collect unemployment insurance since I hadn't found a job afterwards.
