Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Are there any growing or safe parts of Oracle?

I've heard Oracle Apps (specifically things like Oracle HCM Cloud) are actually doing very well. Are they any particularly safe places in Oracle where you're more likely to avoid layoffs?

CRS & CFS GBUs are growing. Hiring many more. I don't know about others.

HR is the only safe area for now, because they still need people to process the paperwork for all of the layoffs.

Legal might be growing too. They need people to help defend against the investor class action lawsuits and visa fraud investigations once the USCIS and SEC wake up.

Of course not (at least in the private sector), but Oracle is worse than most.

Even healthy, growing companies RIF employees (see salesforce). Be smart. Look for more secure employment outside of Oracle.

If SFDC is riffing people, is there such a thing as "secure employment", especially during these uncertain times?

@2weeksnotice. So is it safe to say Moat and GS will be spared from layoffs?

Hardly. Oracle is a company in decline. Even healthy, growing companies RIF employees (see salesforce). Be smart. Look for more secure employment outside of Oracle.

Moat is doing alright, but it's in an organization that's a huge anchor. Moat and GS should be the future of that org, but the big org's bad management and cowboy attitude will keep them from succeeding.

Prediction: Moat and GS will be spun off as a unit, and the rest of the org will be shut down within 2 years (possibly by end of this fiscal year, actually, next summer)

I wish. Workday is kicking our butts. And layoffs are just as common in the HCM team as anywhere else in Oracle.

Oracle’s internal team responsible for laying off employees is growing. In fact, they can’t hire warm bodies fast enough to keep up with demand, so that’s looking pretty good right now.

Sure - the CBC (customer briefing center) in Redwood Shores, where you show up as a customer (I.e., a non-oracle employee) and get shown around.
