HR is not your friend, they are here to protect the company and shareholders from you. Severance means you get X if you go away quietly. There's a goodwill component but it's mostly about protecting the company and shareholders. Wells Fargo has committed serious crimes and ruined tens of thousands of lives over the last decade and we're all paying the price for the Stumpf Gang's crimes.

Weird seeing something I posted in the comments a week or so ago pop up as a new topic, but it is good information.

They should teach "HR is not your friend" in your freshman year of high school.

It didn't start with Stumpf (it continued with him)... it started with D–k Kavocevich.

I think we have all been hurt by this. Whether last year's shakeup after 18 months of not knowing if you had a job, till now. Let's let's face it and you're not going to tell you if you have a job until they don't need you any longer. But until then you are still getting a paycheck, still getting benefits, and might have a job after all.
