: @1tmz+16JTADGT That info can be found at a WF museum near you.

Oh, wait.

Guess you'll just have to Google.

Really is a sad step in the on going downward spiral. Chainsaw slicing up stagecoaches into pieces while giving Kovacevich, Stumpf, and Sloan the finger.

You can thank our prior management teams for that one, specifically John Stumpf and Carrie Tolstedt and the yes-men who stayed silent because they were benefiting from their ego trip. They managed to destroy the reputation of a 168 year institution. Their behavior was appalling, and I wish they were sitting in prison.

I don’t care about the museums, personally, but I’m sure they meant a lot to the leaders and employees who managed the company honestly and successfully for the first 160 years. Having said that, the reputation is permanently damaged and we do have to re-brand. I say change the name, change everything. Wipe the hard drive and start over from scratch.

Thinking way, way back to the Norwest / Wells Fargo deal. It was billed as a merger of equals but really I think Norwest bought WF. They assumed the name, stagecoach imagery and branding because it was SO VALUABLE. Also kept SF as the HQ. What a difference a couple of decades and 5 years of scandals makes.

What does a stagecoach have to do with us anyway, other than us using Wells Fargo's name. We're a bank. I've always thought it was weird.

I believe the Wells Fargo stagecoach program (parades and other appearances) was put on hold awhile back (partially because of a lawsuit). I doubt we see it’s return, given Charlie’s disdain for the stagecoach imagery.

When are they going to begin closing them?

If getting rid of WF museum contents (indicative of no hope or desire for brighter future) isn't a sign that WF is getting sold off, I have a bridge to sell you...

The stagecoach legacy was driven off a cliff a long time ago. Museums paid homage to what once was and NEVER will be again (e.g., character, honesty, customer care).
At this point, good riddance to these painful reminders.

Wish we could take cost saves and put it toward saving staff, but life at WF doesn't work that way.

Just a drop in the $10 billion bucket.

The WSJ implies that the new execs aren't just thinking $. They also think the heritage stuff is cheesy. I understand the need to overhaul the brand given the reputation hit WF has taken, but I love the history too so I hope there's a way to preserve some of it, somehow. The article mentioned that some artifacts would be donated to charities and schools. They aren't even keeping it! Ouch.

Dibs on the old Atari in the SF museum!

It's a bit sad. Honestly how much money does that really cost vs. something that represents the brand and its history?

Let me guess, the next thing will be to do away with all the actual Wells Fargo wagons used in parades etc.
