I can understand layoffs being done due to financial reasons - but making us train our own (cheap) replacements under the penalty of losing our severance if we don't? That's low even for this place. I wonder what's the next thing they're going to think of to make this whole layoffs process even harder for us...

Chainsaw loves for people to hate him. He’s all about the money, how much goes into his as opposed to how much goes into yours. That, and the opera and ballet.
Who said anything about training your replacement correctly?! When I had to do this a few years ago, I totally messed up the process so my replacement would screw up the financial reporting. By the time mgt figured out what was going on, I had my severance and was gone. And if anything ever came back in me, I’d just say they hired someone that didn’t do things correctly. Besides, once you are gone they can’t change your severance, call you back into the office or impact you in anyway.
unfortunately this is common practice when jobs are outsourced
At least they didn't make you recruit, interview, and hire them too.
Anyone else on here recently asked to give a breakdown of your job responsibilities to EGS?
Playbook from Citi and JPMorgan.
But every email and article ends with “we appreciate all that you do”. So what’s the big deal?
they would need to pay more than 30 days, more like 14 months
They hated chainsaw at BNY Mellon, also.
I have seen him around and he has a certain smugness about him.
We all at Wells have an X on our backs.
When I was laid-off 16+ years ago, I trained a contractor on the process, though, she did help with some process improvements. I didn't realize that I was going to be replaced by her. Another part of my job was given to someone else who couldn't do that job, but I found a better position and moved on.
You have to train them - that is the deal. No one said you had to thoroughly train them or train them well.
Blue collar people would be the LAST people to train their cheaper replacements. Most are pro union so that isn’t happening. Get real MBA guy.
Folks, you can vote with your feet. You are still being paid even if it is to train your replacements. Hundreds of thousands of blue collar workers unemployed due to COVID would k–l to be in your shoes.
Chainsaw done lost his brains. I just hope the media gets ahold of this info somehow and puts this nasty, morally bankrupt hell hole dumpster fire on blast. Chainsaw is hated among so many employees, and no one has a clue.
