Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Friday morning thoughts

Don’t want to get too palitikel here but I have some questions. It seems as though a good number of people on this forum have a problem with offshoring jobs whether it be to India and Malaysia by corporations including but not limited to wells. We want to keep american jobs home. Agreed. My question is how does one reconcile wanting to keep jobs home while aligning their palitikel beliefs with the CEO’s and executives who send those jobs overseas?
Yes the rite may say that they will keep jobs home but if their pockets are being lined by CEOs who reap the benefits of the tax breaks on big bonuses gained from sending jobs overseas to increase profit..whose interests are they really serving? I’m genuinely curious what some people’s thoughts are before this thread is archived because the topics seem very relevant.

Reality is that many more American jobs would be lost if we don't offshore those that are good candidates.

Simple math - it's often 3-5x more expansive for a onshore employee vs offshoring. If a dept hypotheticaly has a 1MM budget - you can get 10 US employees at 100k or 33 offshore employees at 30k. However, you only need 13 offshore employees for the tasks. You just cut the dept budget by 50+%. For routine, repeatable tasks, as much as I love the US, the math is pretty hard to argue.

This, I offer this opinion. WF is at a cross roads - live or die. If we die we loose 200k US jobs, with that context should we offshore with the hopes of survival? If leadership pulls the right levels and demonstrates results like Chase as an example, the lost jobs will come back to some degree.

My personal belief is we won't survive and get broken up in a few decades time.

Good post. It's all about shareholders, nobody's thinking about employees.

We are just numbers for now.

Hey kids, I have a philosophy question, and when I think philosophy stuff I think internet gossip sites.

Also, what is the meaning of life, and is pineapple a pizza topping or a crime?

You pretty much nailed it. The stock market loving folks will never curtail it because it lines their pockets. Wall Street has nothing to do with Main Street anyway as we have seen by the pandemic. With people suffering the stock market is still doing well.
