Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Is B2B worth it?

I’m an SM looking to leave retail, once things open up I’d like to make the move to B2B. Just not sure if the money you can make really is that good and if they plan on trimming the fat in that channel. Our SMB rep was just furloughed, so I’m not sure if there is life left in sales anywhere within Verizon.

Also R2B s—s.. you dont learn anything in that role. They think they know but they dont. It's BS job and if you get into R2B, plan on moving to B2B but learn other solutions beyond just cell phones and tablets. I think the R2B manager will be important. Work for an R2B manager that was a BAM, I saw a Retail District Manager that moved into Sr R2B role and he has no idea about B2B just your plain cell phones and tablets, thats it.. especially if they were just General Managers to R2B managers are useless, you won't learn anything from them.

B2B reps probably make around $50K-$65K salary or a little more, plus commission at-risk is around $2250 (windfall at 3X), plus quarterly BuSS bonus at-risk $1800 (max payout 5X per quarter), plus car allowance $7K. Then there's 3% STI, and other bonuses like RSUs etc.. I was a BAM in 2015, I remember my salary was around $54K and I lived in a large city in Southern California.

Is B2B worth it? Hell yes it is. Almost every businesses will need business sales experience and it's a good way to enhance your career. The BAM role is an entry-level position that'll give you more visibility into Verizon. It's not an easy job but it's definitely fulfilling and hard work. I did it for about a little longer than a year because BAM role wasn't something I wanted to do long term. Now I'm in technical sales and love what I do. I started as a customer service rep in Retail, then retail rep, assistant manager, then B2B. Moving into B2B was the best thing I've done for my career. Good luck! I know it's a little tough to get a B2B role now from Retail due to the whole pandemic. Last year we were struggling to get anyone to apply internally and now we have way too much. Get out of Retail asap, your biggest competition is My Verizon.

They need really good incentives to encourage individual performance. A 10 dollar spiff or a 150 rec you is not going to cut it

I can tell you this. Retail Reps couldn’t care less about business accts anymore. Had one the other day and exhausted all resources we had trying to help with no avail. He threatened to leave and go to another carrier so i simply gave him his acct# and said next.

B2b makes more money than an SM. Not sure what you mean by “if it’s worth it”.
