been using the HDMI capture thing since I started here because someone else mentioned it to me. Nice way to archive all powerpoints and anything else that would be useful in the next gig.

Don't do a thing. Step away from the computer. Not supposed to have personal content/ photos on a work computer. Don't bother deleting. WF will wipe/erase the device, but probably after they take a look at recent activity – and you don't want recent activity of a bunch of files being transferred from your WF device.
Maybe zip and send them to yourself via Voltage, adding a note for the DLP team (who will probably inspect the email).
The moment you are given notice (even before then, but ramped up afterward), all activity on your computer is closely monitored.
Some teams w/displacements put a block on any external emails at the end of the day you were given notice (through the date you turn in your computer) to thwart this type of activity.
And if you paid attention to your annual training modules, you are NEVER allowed to email anything to your personal address, even with secure Voltage. Never.
You can only use the Teamworks at home site to access info related to 401K, benefits info, W-2/tax info, etc. Very limited access.
Especially if you're displaced, your computer activity is being watched closely. Don't forfeit your separation pay by making the wrong move.
Just send them to home email. Don't wait. it's not confidential or restricted info.

After you buy the gadget, download OBS (https://obsproject.com/) onto your personal laptop. Plug HDMI end of gadget into your work HDMI port. Plug the other end (a USB connector) in to your personal laptop USB port. Run OBS, and record whatever you want coming out of the your work laptop HDMI port.
How did they get on your laptop to begin with?
Be careful about sending things to your personal email account from your corporate work email address. I had a former employee do that and it was detected they were sending some templates they created as well and they had to turn in their personal laptop for 2 weeks while the forensics team did research to ensure nothing else was taken/distributed.
You'll probably have to email them to your personal email. There's only a few approved thumb drives allowed and unless you already have one you won't be able to just stick one in your machine.
Pictures you can send to your personal through secure mail.
Or you could get creative and buy a device for recording video output directly from DVI/Displayport.
