This was from a few years ago so the current leadership can just blame prior leadership and put things in place (real or not) to consider a diverse slate of candidates and increase diverse hiring. Other companies have done this as well. It's absurd that we even have this sort of thing come up. The leaders from day gone by really ruined the brand.

This also reminds me of the 3 letter story. New exec gets hired. S/he finds 3 envelops from the outgoing exec. One says read now, the other in 1 year, the last in 2 years.

Exec opens first letter – says to blame the prior leadership
1 year later opens 2nd letter – blame the infrastructure
2 years later opens 3rd letter – write 3 letters.
