Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why are you still working for Wells Fargo?

What keeps you here? What do you like? What things you dislike?

Likes: Good pay, usually interesting work, been around a while. Decent people to work with for the most part.

Dislikes: Too many layers, too many id–ts that keep messing things up, dysfunctional orgs, mixed bag of decent leaders and dipsh*ts, too many inefficient and cumbersome processes which in many cases is simply about jumping through hoops and ticking boxes.

It depends where you find yourself in the bank but I’m at WFA and it is a rudderless mess. Compliance freezes accounts out of the blue, the left foot doesn’t know what the right foot is doing and sometimes I spend my day restarting my laptop. 6 years ago I said that I worked for WF. Today I tell people I work at a bank hoping there isn’t a follow up question.

I’m staying because of the money. I’m well compensated with a nice annual bonus and LTI stocks. I’ve worked hard to get here over 20 years. Other than the money and the friends I have made over the years, I don’t like working at WF at all.

I get paid a lot of money to do very little while working from home. I dislike my 1 up and 2 up bosses. they are 20+ year “old guard” employees coasting and doing nothing more than justifying their own existence.

My experience here has been nothing short of disgusting. It’s no wonder the bank is in the state it is in.

@1ieb The bank already tried pushing employees off employer run healthcare. The Minute the ACA was passed their premiums went to $1/mo above the state exchange rate for the identical plan in California. Any change now would be too obvious in that regard.

Bonuses are more than likely a thing of the past until the asset cap is gone. This is despite the fact they're already a rather negligible cost and good for employee morale. The bump to the share price would be mediocre at best. I don't see any real benefit unless they chop 10-25% off the top of them to try and thread the needle.

There's other ways to get people to leave on their own. Taking away telecommuting is much easier and justifiable.

You don’t think the bonuses and benefits are the next to be chopped?

I just feel like the OP is fake. This feels like an interview - even if it's not I don't feel like exploring my feelings on my job with some stranger

Good culture, clearing the old junk that has stained this company. Bullish on a turnaround story

I like my direct manager, she likes her managers. I’ve been working at home since 2018. My job has autonomy.

Take away any one of these things and I’m out.

I believe in the company. I want to work for many years within the company and retire from here. I hope I’m not impacted and hate for those who are.

Great coworkers, solid benefits, lots of PTO due to tenure, finally judged on the quality of work, not the hours I spent doing it.
