Wells Fargo IT is literally the worst job I ever had in my career. Nothing is organized, the intranet site is a jumbled mess, hundreds of home-grown systems that were put together by id–ts, no answers, outsourced to people who don't speak English, no documentation, no training.

They hired an Art History major for some IT leadership position because of D&I. Who in their right mind does that?

Here's something to consider.

If your team/department is part of a layoff, but you do not get let go, the work those people would have been doing will land in your queue.

If teams you work with take a hit then your work will suffer.

My team in IT is busy, it's awful work but we're busy, I don't think we're going to be part of this round, but if we are, I hope I'm first in line.

Staying is probably going to be worse than being let go, depending on your life situation.

This place has always been backwards, tech-wise, but it used to be a good environment to work in.

It's been depressing AF for the last four years and it appears that's going to continue for another year or two.

The pandemic isn't helping.

@1bck not to mention any other company you go to isn't likely to have nearly the regulations WF has on it. It will feel like you are a caged animal being set free.

If you are in IT and get let go you'll be better off, maybe not right away, but Wells is backwards and seems bent on going backwards further and faster.

Tech isn't going away, you'll get hired, hopefully before things get to scary for you.

But you'll probably end up in an IT department or tech company that is living in 2020 and not 1995.

Be safe and take care of what's important to you.

This may sound cruel, but the sooner the better. I've been through way too many of these things. I've been told I don't have anything to be concerned about, but nobody should assume they're safe.

And while this uncertainty is out there, people will be thinking about it. What will happen, what org changes, will I get laid off, do I need to look for a job elsewhere, etc. etc. It's a disruption that can and does impact focus regardless of how much we all think we're continuing our work.

I'm not keen on looking for a new job, but honestly ideal situation would be getting a package and having a new job lined up w/in a few weeks to a month. But no telling what the job market will look like given the economy.

there are 1 or 2 dates per month through the remainder of the year - someone read me the list but I didn't write them down. I would expect them to continue into 2021... the displacement process requires resources to get all the paperwork approved, packages prepared, training done, etc, and there are only a finite number that can be done in any one month.

Tuesdays make sense to me as they people are WFH now and they aren’t going to have thousands of people overnighting or 2-day laptops/devices and have them arrive Saturday. The logic of splitting this into waves so everything can be reasonably processed adds up too.

@qzq+16AyiSBX, same here. The sooner the better. Moral is at an all time low and the work culture is nonexistent. This "career" has slowly become a job for many of us.

I heard the last Tuesday of the month-august, September and October. I guess we will know soon enough.
