Why Arnold? Are agents now saying, "hear me now and believe me later?"

By any objective measurement, Jake does resonate and the campaign has been a huge, award winning success.

No, the real jake had a "common guy" vibe that made him relatable and adorable. The new jake attempts to live off that with an actor who feels like an actor. The fact that we reused and replaced this advertisement campaign shows how absolutely void of creativity and leadership this company has. Personally i cant stand the "lets be funny" insurance commercial that states nothing about the product, but i guess you need that when you cant say anything that sets you apart from the rest.

He’s so annoying!!! When are they going to get the message that’s it’s overdone and I despise and recommend everyone against state farm now. Time to retire this dude!!!

@dQygo…..Try and keep up. The conversation is about the current, now long running Jake campaign. And Jake appears in places many of us don’t even see. For instance, he’s the only non NBA player character in an NBA themed video game.

Not about liking him he has no acting talent and could not be utilized in other commercials. He made one commercial where he uttered two words “uh, khakis.” That is not an ad campaign.

OK, so some of you don’t like him. But by any objective measurement, it has been and still is a remarkably popular ad campaign. And the actor, Kevin, is a very personable and relatable guy.

Jake was a one trick pony. His lack of acting ability and talent left virtually no future options.

Old Jake felt like a real employee, because he was, and carried an awkwarness/nervousness about him that made it a likeable character. Yes he took it too far outside of work, and getting a professional to replace him was a responsible idea.

Why we couldnt just let Jake be, and move on to a new thing.?...i guess that would have taken creativity.

New Jake is an actor, looks and feels it in the ads. I see a cool, collected, actor on screen when i see our ads, and nothing that old Jake represented. But we lost our innovative touch and creativity and so now get a modernized Jake that lacks everything that made people like Jake. He checks the right "boxes" these days, so he will probably be a thing forever. 100% the least enjoyable advertising campaigns of the major auto insurance companies, who are all resolved to waste as much money as possible on stupid advertisements, ignoring quality of product along the way.

The original Jake commercials were more entertaining and funny. The original Jake is what made “Jake from State Farm” a household statement and even kid’s dressing up like him for Halloween. The new Jake is disappointing.

Everyone is saying people don't like the new Jake because he's black. Well I'm black and I don't like the new Jake. It's not the actor himself, it's what the entertainment industry does with black characters (mainly black men). They always have to be "cool" and "in control". The white actors in the commercial have to be geeky and awkward and making a fool of themselves. It's so annoying. Like, black people can be geeky and awkward too. White people can be cool and in control. Black people can be spontaneous and out of control. Likewise all Asians are not smart. All Latinos are not spicy. Stop with the stereotypes already! It's so annoying.

Cancelled State Farm for Costco Insurance. Hate Aaron Rogers and fake actors like Tajake. Not sure if State farm can survive on the 13%.

Uh Oh -seems 8Yeto is another BS artist or Liar! Out of the 87 MILLION policies in 2021 Gainsco accounted for 293,000! Not quite a “boatload” unless you were thinking a row boat hahahahah.

Gainsco added a boatload of policies to SF overall, boosting the metric they use to say they are #1. No one said revenue. They had to buy another insurance company, for the first time in the companies history, in order to pad those policy numbers and keep the company at that #1 spot. No need for the childishness.

LOL-another Gainsco. Gainsco provided 1% of the revenue last year. Real student of the business aren’t you.

IMO waste of money trying to recapture the natural likability of the old SF employee. Yes that old Jake would go bar hopping using his fame to get free drinks, possibly more issues but lets leave it at that.

It was, back then, a cute, and natural advertisement that resonated with people (for some reason). It was a good commercial because it was real.

New Jake is an actor, who looks the part as a likable person. He likely wont have the baggage that grew out of the old employee based mascot. Dont care about the skin tone its really irrelevant and if you didnt think it would go that way when they decided to replace Jake, then you havent been paying attention to this companies goals and focus.

Either way, its like a modern day remake of a classic 80's/90's movie. Totally lacks that soul and realness. Doesnt pack any comedy, or interesting aspects. Its Flo without the quirkiness/cringe. Its the GIECO lizard without the comedy/cute Its old jake without it being real. Its....a generic mascot personality. What it shows is that our company is creatively exhausted and willing to follow the lead by others.

This was a chance to reinvent the company image (if you wanted to do that not sure why you want to do that for a historically successful company that use to dominate the industry but ok) or to blaze a new trail, one that would see our competitors forced back to the drawing board. But no. They just chose a good for PR model actor based on looks alone as far as i can tell. At least Flo had personality. But then, SF decided it didnt want to lead and wanted to follow ages ago, and this is the result, along with competitors catching up and scheduled to pass us (unless they buy another GAINSCO at least)

Like the commercials or not in the 2 or so years since the reintroduction of the new Jake, SF added close to 4 million auto policies. Something is resonating with the public.

GEICO has by far the best insurance related commercials. I hate SF commercials, but new Allstate commercials with the bouncing car and such are worse.

Tell me you're racist without telling me you're racist. Most of these commenters are upset that Jake is now a Black guy but are too dim to take 2 minutes to Google WHY SF changed the character and are too much of a coward to actually say why they are displeased. The Original Jake was actually a call center rep who, get THIS... worked for SF! 🤭Can you believe that?! Can you also believe that HE only worked there part time and HE decided to move on to other things and after doing so SF decided they needed a REAL actor to continue on with their campaign?! Well, I'll be damned! The NERVE of them! 🤦🏾‍♀️

And Jake tells everyone that everybody gets great rates. He doesn’t ask for gifts. Honestly, he never really accepts them either. He’s as gracious as possible. More people should be that way.

You may not like it but customers do. To bad for you. Marketing tests the living h—l out of the commercials before, during and after customers review. They don’t give a rip about whether employees like them or not.

Yeah then resonate to the tune of 2 million policies sold. Like it or not. Marketing has been a failure for decades but they hit on one that seems to work.

I think state farm commercials are unethical. They show companies doing the quid pro quo to get a better rate. Not the right thing to do with a commercial.

State Farm named a Top 10 Marketer of the year by Ad Age. They note Jake's realness and relatability. Among many things State Farm did well in 2020, they note:
"Modernization of the brand through brand refresh and the return of Jake from State Farm-catapulting State Farm back into the cultural lexicon."

Dislike and down vote all you want....the answer is that yes, the new Jake commercials resonate.
