I’m a manager and know nothing. I’ve focused on my work and have asked my team to do the same. Unless they look for something else, we’ve got to continue working hard and hope that it’s not us. I think the way they’ve handled this is a distraction from work though to an extent. My team is stressed which makes it harder for them to perform at the same level (and they are, myself included as also working alongside of them while managing on top of everything).

Makes you wonder if they’ve made all of these announcements to get people to take a job elsewhere so it’s less that they’ll have to pay? I don’t know if it’s better to know you could get fired or to just be fired? Lots of gloom and doom across the company though.

Sorry, that should read "Upper management manages from white papers and text books, they DON'T actually manage people or the company."

A few missing letters really messes up the message.

It seems like bad management to let people go without the manager's involvement.

Bad managers aside, most managers know who they need to keep and who if anyone they can afford to lose.

But we've seen top down stupid decisions at this bank for years and years now, so while I have no special insight, I do believe most managers are not aware of the coming cuts.

Upper management manages from white papers and text books, they do actually manage people or the company.

Also, if there are layoffs this week, please, call me, I can't wait.

I am also a Senior Manager and know nothing. My boss, a Director, knows nothing. We have a handful of 1s and 2s on the larger team, so I expect those TMs to be gone anytime now. We know cuts are coming, but like all of you the date and method have been a mystery. The tea leaves are saying this upcoming week, so we shall see.

I'm a manager of managers and don't know sh– other than what everyone else knows: layoffs are coming.

I’m a VP manager as is my manager. My manager claims to know nothing. His manager is an SVP who claims not to know as well and says decisions are being made higher up and coordinating with HR. But I have heard from a different source that this particular SVP really does know, but can’t say anything yet.

Your manager knows a little more about the layoffs than you. Your manager's/manager knows more than they know about layoffs (and so on).

I know I don’t know and I’m a manager. My manager says he doesn’t know but thinks his boss does.

I believe those who are indirect reports to the OC know, but not further.

I know for a fact that managers know, including mine, and have been lying. Yes, many do know.
