Managers trying to get people to quit?

The last couple of weeks my manager went from being a reasonable partner to being bat c-ap crazy with inconsistent direction and everything is a drop what you're doing and jump on the next flavor of the minute. I know some of this is from above but seems like this is intentional to see if I will jump before they force the issue. Still waiting on my mid year but back in the day (before they left the 1-5 scale the last few years) I had 6 four ratings and 6 five ratings. I have been exceeds the last few. I am waiting to see how this year plays out.

Don’t give up. Don’t quit. Wait for that severance package. Hold out for it.

In the meantime polish that resume and start searching externally and reaching out to external partners, friends and family.

Don’t speak a word of your job search. If you are connected to your Manager or any snitches from your team on LinkedIn, block them now before you update your profile. Seriously.

Don’t give these b@stards a reason to force you out. Get ahead of the game.

Unless they’re far above the 7 directs number I think most managers are trying to conserve headcount.

I know what you mean. But I don't think it's an attempt to get people to quit. I think it's a symptom of the complete chaos that the company is in. Everything that lands on my desk is a fire drill now. There are no reasonable expectations anymore. Everybody thinks their requests have to be done instantly. Almost every thing I get is couched as some executive wanting it ASAP.

It could be your manager is losing it because they are worried about their own job. Don’t take it personally.
