Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Just what does a TRM (Technology Relationship Manager) Do....really??

lets see - a TRM makes phone calls

  • they make calendars
  • they put together decks with information they got from someone else
  • they put out tons of emails indicating this, that, and the other thing
  • they threaten if they feel they are not The Most Important Person In The Room
  • they live a lavish lifestyle - because they deserve it
  • sounds like a PM or SM job doesn't it? Or maybe secretary?

But wait - they make MORE than most technical jobs, PM jobs, and SM jobs! How can this be you ask

Well survey's conducted in the most professional manner found that the most important roles in the world were - you guessed it, TRMs!!

(this based on sample survey of 1003 individuals with a 3% variance)

Oh cr4p, upon looking at the samples it turns out that all 1003 respondents were TRM's.......

  • ok back to the drawing board.....

Oh yeah hey, so what overpaid worthless job in Technology do you hold? Yes as mentioned maybe you could get some people skills training and become a TRM. They are usually the ones letting their managers know what's going on with other groups and who's doing the work and who's not.. .be scared.. Very scared of them tattling on you! 😜 .Oh and they do make more money than Saul himself.. rolling in the dough here! Lol!

I'm a TRM and I work my azz off doing thankless work that our senior management wants done or gets handed down due to audit findings, compliance issues, higher MGMT strategic technology or process directives, reorgs, new so called high priority product initiatives the LOB mgmt dreams up. All the while having to figure out six different org structures, the players and all the different personalities, perspectives. Not an easy task for sure.

Totally disagree with this whiny diatribe about there experiences with TRMs. You try doing the work for a while and see what it's like. You ever think maybe they just have difficulty working with the likes of you? Maybe try to be nice to then and ask them what their day to day with life entails, you may be surprised.

Btw, some of us don't get any more that project managers or engineers, so your supposed thinking of big bucks not entirely true .

I've asked myself this very question. They seem to just insert themselves between teams and slow things down by not having any real knowledge of anything.

@g1k. That’s awesome. You know I finally realized something. It’s not that I am lazy, it’s that I just don’t care

A TRM creates and contributes absolutely no value to anything they get involved in. They are an over compensated road block and do nothing but create chaos between multiple teams and add additional work requesting data, metrics and information they could have obtained themselves.

YOU NEED TO BACK THE F– OFF.

Until you have worked with a TRM first hand and experienced the toxicity of a TRM who will report you to their manager and your own manager for “lack of engagement or response” and jeapordize your job and entire career when you are doing your damdest to meet every single one of their stupid busy work requests and demands then back the f– off.

  1. 9% of these TRMs have no basic or fundamental knowledge of technology in general. Nor do they know any specifics about highly complicated systems or networks.

I have worked with and for TRMs who had a degree in effing Music and another in Religious Studies. How the F– does that help me?!?

They got their jobs thru buddies in HR who I ultimately hold responsible for effing up the talent and knowledge pool. You want to know why this bank is a effing disaster, go ask Talent Acquisition who recommends and hires these fools.

I already told you: I deal with the goddamn customers so the engineers don't have to! I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?

@OP Instead of wearing your jealousy, why don't you work towards becoming a TRM? Perhaps you will find out what else they do, and you could make more money!

Sincerely,
Not a TRM

Looks like someone in treasury got their package Friday. You’ll be in my prayers while I’m on PTO, also can you figure out what that fee a few weeks ago was for? Thanks!

Sincerely,
A TRM
