7:1 How does that impact bank branches with a manager and a service manager? Are they eliminating service managers roles?
As far as I am concerned fewer management layers = more efficiency and less corruption

I was placed on a team I have nothing in common with. No one understands the projects I am working on.
My role versus my team is like oil and water.

7:1 is the beginning, it will increase to 9:1.

The span of control will be 9:1 and the jockeying has already begun, Mortgage, Risk, Auto, with some of my friends confirming, Teams are now deciding who they can cannibalize to offset losses, and its the middle managers that have the most to fear. So a manager with direct team = no problem. Managers with mangers and less than span of control of 9:1 need to be worried.

If you manager is not of a diverse demographic they are probably gone. Best case, they get placed as an IC but likely not. FYI, I am in the probably gone category.
More likely your manager and another manager will have their teams merged. One surviving manager will manage the combined team which will also be streamlined. So, both you and your manager could be let go in this scenario. It’s also possible that none of the two managers survive and a third person is appointed to manage (and cut) the combined the organization.
