The Ides of August has come!
Office Closure emails just started circulating today. August is supposed to be bloody ... very bloody.
Any info about OCI org?
Here is another developer, after more than 20 yrs today was my last day.
Was some sort of age discrimination? Naah. Foolish thinking.
Anyway, the cause has a name : COVID-19. Anyone saying this pandemic is exaggeration or fake has no connection with reality.
I got layed off today (aug 3rd). In DB group.
US employees being notified today (August 3). Heard Latin America is next week. It is very quiet today... eerily quiet.
It's real. Just got terminated. 24 years with the company. DB development. Its no longer just Sales force. When dev starts to get hit big, something big is coming.
Updates ?
It makes no sense. RIFs consume a lot of time and company resources. We just did one a month ago and now you’re saying there’s another? I’m calling BS.
Look, I’m sorry for people that got laid off, but move on with your life. Stop trolling forums with lies and misinformation.
We just had a RIF about a month ago across various org and we are saying this is going to happen again in August throughout Oracle ?
Aug 3rd .. atleast few in DB org
Microsoft would have no interest in OCI. I have worked in both orgs. OCI has no real business or profits and Microsoft doesn’t need to fragment its DC technologies.
How big are the layoffs coming in August? Everyone keeps saying the biggest Oracle layoffs of all time are coming in August, how bad is it? any particular LOBs or countries affected?
Don’t have those exact specifics, but it’s being referred to as “The Big One”, so that should set your expectations correctly.
Hope that helps!
“ Just because it is on the internet it doesn't make it real.”, you are exactly right, your post is a good example. When companies said they are doing extreme well for last 10+ years on all hand meeting, but majority of employees didn’t even get an inflation adjustments, you should be smart enough to know which side of story is true.
Just check out layoffs at the other big tech companies. Now you have your answer.
Anything else are just ill intentioned comments made by the bottom feeder ex-employees or fake news created by competition.
So far 2020 proved to be the year of The Fake: fake news, fake market marketing, fake, fake, fake, ....
It is the time for all if us to start using our brains and discriminate (yes I meant that) between the "fake reality" and "real reality" of our lives. Just because it is on the internet it doesn't make it real.
That can only mean 1 thing...
That it's annual review/focal time?
If there will be any layoffs in August, the targets were already chosen some time ago.
i don’t know about other countries, but a couple of weeks in the u.s. managers were required to stack rank ALL employees. That can only mean 1 thing...
That’s quite a claim. Time will tell if you are correct.
Here’s the thing, multiple divisions will be hit you won’t get an answer here since director-level managers only have visibility into their own orgs. You would need VP or higher to get a bigger picture, and they won’t divulge insider info like that - it’s a SEC violation.
What I have heard, and this fits with another post I saw here in the last week, where the layoffs are intended to make the business appear more profitable, is exec management is getting ready to break the company up and sell off the pieces. OIC, associated DCs and tech go to Microsoft, cloud apps to SFDC, etc... LE wants to retire once and for all - he and SC know that the cloud ship has already sailed, and this will be the final pump/dump and a massive payoff for both.
Good luck everyone - update your resumes ASAP because even if you don’t get hit this round cloud-economics/economies of scale mean you have little shot of being adopted by one of the buyers.
