Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

A poll

How many of you are actively hoping to see this company fail? Even if it means losing a job during a pandemic and a major economic downturn?

Let me start: I do!

This place is so toxic, unethical, and rotten to the core that it really shouldn't exist anymore. Better to liquidate and start from scratch.

I want the bank and all the Too Big To Fail criminal enterprises to be broken up into regional banks to support local communities, prevent another massive bank bailout, and to INCREASE the number of jobs.

Consider it the anit-synergy.

Co-sign the folks saying perp walks for management.

I don’t want to see the company go down. Too many good people would be negatively affected by it. I would like to see the people responsible for the fake accounts scandal and revenge against the whistleblowers suffer immense pain.

I don’t want to see WF go down. The people who were responsible for the scandals have all walked away whistling with their millions, so who would it hurt?

I WOULD like to see Stumpf, Tolstedt, and their minions in prison, but that’s not happening so what’s the point?

Crime pays. WF is the proof.

I do not wish to see WF fail...but they are well on their way all on their own. By "their" I mean the arrogant executives. Their arrogance is unsurpassed. They care nothing for the health or efficient operation of the company, only the short term stock price, dividends and their own salaries. The workers in the trenches could save them millions of dollars...but they are too arrogant to listen to any of them. They feign interest in being more efficient, but have no mechanism in place to foster any. It is nothing but manage UP and tell the useless layer of excessive management above you what they want to hear. Our latest trend... hire all the X execs from JPMorgan. The only thing they all know is layoffs at the lowest level. Never a thought of thinning useless layers of overpaid execs. Sad and highly TOXIC

Same here. No company is perfect, but I think WF does its best to correct issues and balance focus when it can. Toxicity must surround you wherever you go.

I would love the see Wells Fargo go down, but obviously would not like the fallout which would be so many employees losing their jobs. I do think Wells is rotten to the core. No one from the outside will have to put us out of business-: we are self destructing all on our own thanks to years of bumbling mismanagement.

I’m glad that we have employees who are somehow unaffected by what’s happening in the C-Suite for the past 10 or more years. Tell me how it is that you are unaffected. For example, I have friends who don’t think Wells is bad, but I notice they are people who don’t like to read and watch the news because it drags them down. (Sometimes I think I agree with them.) But I honestly don’t think you could have been reading the headlines in the past 4 years and think that Wells is a great company.

To be accurate, the bank wouldn’t fail. It would either execute its living will or be put into receivership with the FDIC. WF is quite a way a way from failure because the balance sheet is healthy. It’s the income statement that’s unhealthy, which is why mass layoffs are likely.

I don’t wish for failure, but evidence of toxic culture is everywhere. An asset cap, 14 consent orders, and lawsuits for fraud, wage theft among others. These are not symbols of a healthy culture, and your department doesn’t matter because customer, investors, and regulators only see one Wells Fargo.

I’m not the OP, but I don’t think one employee should ever be saying another employee at Wells Fargo is “the problem”, or even part of the problem. No one employee, or 1000 employees, or even 10,000 employees are ever going to be “the problem“ in a firm of 260,000+ employees. The problems start squarely at the top and have created such toxicity that we now have employees who think like OP. OP is not the problem, he is an unintended consequence resulting from the problem.

I agree with other posts, I do not have the same experience and having the company completely shut down would very negatively affect me and my children. I could never wish a company shut down and impact thousands of families, especially in our current environment.

You must be a task worker in mortgage or consumer banking. Other lines of business are nothing like what you describe.

You probably should have found a different place to work a long time ago. If you honestly feel that it is not toxic and unethical yet you continue to take a check....maybe you are the problem.

Again, your opinion of the company is determined by which silo you live in. I don’t experience any of what you say.
