Moldafsky: Mktg reorg announced within 2 weeks

Don't ya' just love videos from execs on their way out?

Moldafsky looked tan, refreshingly zen/relaxed, with new hair cut and color (with matching eye brows). She even mentioned she applied for the CMO job, while keeping her options open. (Uh, yeah, a pig just flew by to signal her chances of getting it.)

But in one of her final videos yesterday (if not her final one), she briefly mentioned the reorg recommendations she and her team presented and are working through....and that they'll be announced in 2 weeks.

Why Scharf or anyone on his Dream Team would listen to her or her team is beyond me. In fact, her team was "shocked" earlier when their initial recommendations were disregarded. You have to laugh at the comedy of all this, otherwise you'll just sit and cry.

So, after the mid-year stacking by July 31 (aka rank and yank, mandatory bell-curve resulting in amped up back-stabbing, survivalist Marketing staff in real-life Hunger Games scene), the new, dessimated org structure will be announced. Oh, goodie!!!

Well... at least Phase I of it. Because we all know WF likes to rip off Band-Aids nice and slowly, in true sadist fashion.

Hope you enjoyed watching the video as we all experience the different stages of grief in our livelihoods/careers. Sooo happy for Jamie, in her blissful acceptance phase, in her lavish home in Tiburon, with her golden parachute.

I could swear I saw a subliminal "Let them eat cake" message pop up in the video.

Personally, I don't need to hear from the person responsible for the nightmare org structure, giving us philosophical guidance on her way out. Thanks, but no thanks.

So will Corporate Communications finally take over Social Media? From the start it was a failed attempt. Social Media Marketing was in chaos and no one knew what they were doing or what they were supposed to be doing.

At one point the head just up and quit after failing time and time again and delivering all of nothing. All sizzle and no substance. Hired a bunch of people that were millennials in the hopes of making the place look young and fresh, yet a boomer, the head of it, is running the business into the ground.

There was always an internal struggle over the definition of what the different groups are supposed to be doing and who is in charge of what. Marketing vs Communications vs Customer Service vs PR, etc etc.

Literally some of them just wanted to buy new shiny toys, Google Glass (remember how that failed?!?) And these millennials thought their job was to create memes, gifs, go to SxSw, Ted Talks and tweet pathetic snarky humor all day. On top of giving tours of command centers as of it was the Hollywood version of the Iron Man of Command Centers. Laughable.

Most poorly run business unit in all of Marketing with the highest overhead. How’s that working out for you now?

Those praising JM on her way out are hoping she'll hire them at her next company. It's pathetic watching all the fawning over her.

She has enough $$ (incl. parachute) that she doesn't need another job...at least, not anytime soon.

She and her enablers built kingdoms based on constant chaos (job security! they sure had a great run at everyone else's expense)

For example, the Operating Committee/Integrated Marketing model was broken from the get go. Then, never substantively course corrected and instead compounded the issues with each iteration.

Bye bye, JM. You put us all at risk and certainly wont be standing in the unemployment lines like the rest of us (the "lucky" ones not terminated for trumped-up cause, who won't be able to collect unemployment insurance benefits).

She didn't apply for the consumer CMO role - she is interviewing/screening candidates for the role reporting to M. Mack. That is bizarre beyond words - they want JM gone but they will have her do the screening for the new consumer CMO.

The Friday video and her XLT meeting (JM's directs and two-downs) the prior week show how little understanding JM and her team have of how bankrupt her reputation is at WF. She should have been shown the door at least a year ago - but we had no CEO at that point so it was moot. They are putting together these recos for where ppl and $$ go, and are supposed to meet with the op co to get them approved/validated...we'll see if that meeting ever even happens or just keeps getting rescheduled (which is what happened with all the budget meetings the last two years) or kicked to one of the OC to make the decision/call.

To the commenter on IHA - all of their open positions have been frozen, and several LOB marketing teams have been given permission to employ external agencies as a result. Once marketing goes back into the LOBs you can believe that IHA will not have many "customers" at their doorstep.

Got the Golden parachute and probably has the next job lined up. Easy for executives to "fail upward."

Nice and being good at your job are two different things. So many are so glad she's leaving.

Not sure what will happen, but at least this phase of organizational idiocy is over.

Loved OP – should be a professional writer! Laughed so hard.

Competence and ethics – two kinda' important things in business – are severely lacking at WF.

All of this is imploding anyway (1-4 yrs). IHA (in-house agency) vs external agencies, centralized vs decentralized marketing, etc. are just shuffling chairs on this Titanic. None of it matters in the grand scheme of things.

Her IHA people have been bragging that they’re going to be getting bigger than ever - because they’ll be taking on the work currently being done by outside advertising agencies.

That should be interesting. They can’t even take direction on an email. Can’t wait to see what they do with a major campaign.
