Community bank being dissolved?

Apologies for my click bait header. Any news on what is happening with the consumer banking team members? I know they want digital being pushed in all branches probably to retain customers whilst slowly promoting team members to customer.

Community banking is not going to be dissolved. The banks entire business model depends on collecting deposits to lend to other people in the form of credit cards and auto loans.

However, branches will be closed. Probably 1000 or more. Customers will be pushed to paperless, Mobile and online. They have already gone there due to COVID, the pandemic accelerated the push to digital.

Call center calls will be reduced by process automation, bots, and self service. It is likely that at least 5000 to 9000 of the Community Bank headcount of around 90000 will lose their jobs.

Is it your job, no way to know. But it will be up down and the hierarchy for sure.

I am curious on what impact this will have on team members, district managers and regional presidents in community banking. There seems to be a packed agenda for district managers to stay busy through early 2021 with virtual workshops for bankers and managers but curious if anyone has any idea how and when community banking TMs will be impacted ?

I have not heard specifically but more than just a few people saying branches (Community Bank by “department” name) seems a likely candid for reduction. Dissolving completely wasn’t said. There will be some brick and mortar presence. But with COVID it’s not a good time for them.
