I would rather have the captain of the Titanic piloting this ship

Jesus 26 years, going back to Pacific Bell. This sh– show never fails to amaze. We have always had the next big thing and that next big thing was always a physical, tangible, item. DSL, Pronto, Long Distance, Uverse, then we stopped. We let google decide to do fiber, then we played catch up, we decided we to be a wireless company, then we decided to be a satellite company, then we wanted to be a media conglomerate, we forgot WHO WE ARE/WERE. I knew hbomax was doomed because I have teenagers, when Disney plus came out, they were discussing it for weeks, HBOMAX? They have no idea, what it is or does. Don’t care! You have friends? We can see that anyway. Harry Potter? You don’t have Marvel. We could have taken that money, invested in our fiber network and had a premier position in the telecom world. No, that would involve money and while it would be a wise long term investment, terrible for dividends. So here we are, the captain took the life boat, we are adrift without a rudder, in 2 years my chain of command went from 6 people to 12, the lifeboats are gone, we that are left, grab a deck chair, let’s listen to the band as we go down.

Uh, about 15yrs ago, SBC and Apple had the same market cap. Now, who is 200B in debt, and who is worth a trillion dollars?

Don't forget going back even further, the whole reason for the breakup and wanting getting into the home & business computer business. Deals with Olivetti, Intel, buying and then selling NCR (disaster). Assuming home users wanted unix without a user interface. All a failure.

Why would Stankey need to ask the opinion of us 'uninformed' p!ssants who do the actual work and interact with the customer every day? He knows TV better than any of us after all.

With the incredible arrogance and incompetence of the clown show running this organization, this ship is doomed.

Very accurate history lesson. I’d like to add for the fiber deployment, all the Municipalities started imposing restrictions regarding trenching and Permits. The Company in its great wisdom decided it wanted to go another route since once fiber was deployed that was the end of that. Along the the same line of thinking, the Company would start a project then abandon it after a few years past completion.

My thoughts are pretty much the same. They played the first to roll out 5G game, which did nothing for average customers. They should have extended fiber to all neighborhoods and business centers. They have taken subsidies to do this over the years, but were more concerned with buying stock back.
