Are the rumors of layoffs for our office true? Our building was sold and we have 2 months left until we need to move out and still no word on a date to move in the new building. Is a surplus coming? Hearing alot of things and management doesn't say anything. Also there is a lawsuit for our department with several reps suing for unpaid overtime. Can AT&T surplus us as retaliation, I assume that wouldn't look good on them

Because not all jobs CAN be done remotely. There is still quite a bit of work that requires hands on.
The equipment in those buildings don't assemble themselves.
The connections to other equipment in the building doesn't connect itself.
When a problem arises in working equipment, you guessed it, components don't replace themselves either.

When Randy moved the HQ from SA to Dallas, it was like the beginning of the end. SA lost what was then considered a pretty good major employer.
Considering that the building has already been purchased by Incarnate Word University, I doubt that they would let us rent it back when they bought the building because of its location next to the campus and they need the space with increased student enrollment. We need to be out soon so they can renovate the building in time for the Spring semester. Also, St. Mary’s does not have the parking to accommodate the 400 plus reps that would have to relocate and having to pay monthly for a private parking spot is c-ap. My guess is that they will surplus Credit and Collections and have most of Retention’s Reps work from home the rest of the year and then surplus them around December.

I heard the office revamps at St Mary were designed and done as open floor designs. Not very social distancing friendly and will not pass CDC guidelines. I am hearing it will be months before it will be ready for everyone to migrate over from Broadway, too many bodies in a limited open air space. But that will not stop a surplus as office revamps are great for corporation tax write offs.
