I was surplussed (23 yrs service) and matched with a job, non management over 6 hrs away from my homebase, 18 mths ago. My husband also an ATT employee, applied for a hardship transfer to be with me, he has been denied 3x to move. The last HR manager told us, "You are best to quit and find work elsewhere, then count on a transfer."

I had 13 years seniority and they didn't even acknowledge my transfer request in AUTS.

if a req is open it's possible, but remember, with more people being layed off there applicant pool will be even larger.
