Stores that have not yet reopened (excluding malls) in my area have “the call” tomorrow morning. The RSMs, ASMs, and our ARSM, DOS VP and HR on the call. It’s obviously the official lay-off- store not reopening due to low traffic blah blah. The plan all along has been to turn a high percentage of COR stores into AR or just close, excluding high profit and Flagships. We saw the email last week about leases being reworked due to the way “customers prefer to shop these days”. I see this being a smaller lay-off but before Q4 and into next year the big retail layoffs happening. I hear so many people saying how “safe” they are, nobody is ever safe, we are all replaceable. Just like they give the IT and tech jobs to contractors, they’ll do this with retail by utilizing AR. Stinks to lose a job in this economy, I especially can’t stand some of the rude posts with people happy to see others losing jobs. It’ll be their turn one day. Best of luck to all.
