Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

From the union :

Members,

Next week on Monday the 15th the company will be distributing an IRREVOCABLE Voluntary Severance Premium Offer sheet to all core employees, within 35-miles of the exchanges identified for reduction. Each Area manager should hold a meeting with their respective teams to explain the offer. The meeting will cover the number of employees, titles, and the locations the company has identified for reduction.

On Tuesday, the 16th the company will distribute a Voluntary Preference form to employees in the exchanges identified for reduction. There will be another call with the area manager to explain your options should you choose not to take the separation offer.

On Wednesday CWA #### will host a zoom meeting @7:30pm as well as open the hall to a limited capacity to help answer any additional questions that might arise. Jonathan Beitler from Networth will be attending the meeting to help answer any financial questions. In preparations for all the usual questions that come up during surplus conditions we have updated the seniority list and the 35-mile list on our website CWA####.org. I have requested practice guides for the tkt2 test from partnership, once they come in, we will post on the website.

I have requested an updated seniority list from the district for the wiretechs, I expect to have it by next week. Once I receive the list, I will update the website to have the wiretech seniority list as well. The wire tech voluntary reduction will be announced after July 1st as we receive further information, we will schedule another meeting to answer any concerns our members might have.

As always if you have any questions please feel free to call or email us.

In unity,

Post ID: @iwc+15pFQDXn Something else to think about here sport. Do remember back a few weeks ago when AT&T had to pay people to stay home due to Covid 19? AT&T had so many people say "phuck it I'm not going in" that AT&T had to devise a scheme called "Hazard Duty" when in reality it was "Please come to work and we can magically afford to pay you 20% more" ? Well I didn't miss a day, but this speaks volumes as to what a labor strike will look like. Do you think all of your demoralized co-workers will give it the gung ho for CP duty? Go ahead and buy those boots out of pocket that you will never use.

'Hahaha!!! AT&T hasn't had a lot of luck with breaking the union in the last 15-20 years, " No AT&T hasn't had a lot of luck breaking the union in 40 years, but each time they say "Golly, we are gonna git 'em this time."
" I get a kick out of watching union folks squirm around like a bunch of rats trying to chew on the last piece of rotten food (and each other for that matter)." That is because you are twisted little person and scared about losing your job. Remember, "Nobody is safe."

Hahaha!!! AT&T hasn't had a lot of luck with breaking the union in the last 15-20 years, but I think COVID may just be the thing that turns the tables. Age has nothing to do with it. This isn't a SIPP offer. They are targeting exchanges where they have a surplus of headcount per the latest model. Basically, if your area is identified as a target for the voluntary severance, you would be wise to look at that as a precursor to what will follow in Q4.

If this was about wanting people to go home or retire why wouldn't the offer it over 35 miles, what if there are 35 year guys who want to go and there is nothing within 35 miles being effected, the union is a joke, this offer helps no one unless they have an old person near their yard.

My understanding is it's for ALL core employees , at least in DISTRICT 3. I don't know about other districts.
