Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Retail

Anyone know about this retail buddy thing with authorized stores? Seems like RSC jobs could be thinned out.

Haha the CWA does not have your back. The only thing the CWA has vested in YOU is the deduction that comes from your check....with that said RSC's have nothing to fear from cuts. Natural attrition is easy to hit headcount goals. If they want you gone; a couple of bias observations takes care of that.

@uou so let's say this is accurate just for fun. They close as many doors as they please or turn them over to Authorized Retail. Take the reps from the old stores and shove them in whatever company stores remain.

Just by lack of sales you will weed your way down soon enough through attrition. Manage out the rest.

What they want to happen is going to happen, and there isn't anything any of you or the CWA can do about it I'm sorry to say.

They will not lay-off RSC. It’s impossible, they are the only ones doing any real work for the company and also have CWA backing. Good luck!

Lordy what a joke they are for sure! The screwed up accounts, fraud and all! You get what you pay for with them but then again its alot like the management of the company!

There will be a place for COR retail although it will be a much smaller footprint. Authorized retail could perform the majority of work an RSC/COR store does but they simply do not. That could be for many reasons but pay scale and hiring practices are the bulk of it. That being said there are are far too many COR stores out there and this reduction should hit at least 20%. RSC’s with significant time in will also be significantly impacted and cannot count on seniority to see them through.

A district manager told me he believes they are going to reduce ATT owned centers, and will be focusing on authorized retailers.

Its anybody's guess what is happening with COR. I do know that the authorized retailers are now on the same inventory system as COR. They now get their stock from the same warehouse. That means they are identical to COR and can do all the same procedures. So, why pay COR reps hourly and commission, pay for their insurance, 401K and pensions and rent on the stores. Authorized retails are cheaper to maintain. I'm a COR rep and nervous about my future income. I don't have any insight to what is going on other than what I read on this site. Most of the stuff posted here is BS, but just have to weed out the bad info and guess what could be true.
