Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Mgt. is too bloated!

All the layers of AVPs,VPs,SVPs have driven the company into the ground. Most don’t have any technical expertise, and would be hard pressed to install products in their own home. Most only have 2 or 3 direct reports and spend most of their time originating convoluted and contradictory strategies!! Management dysfunction has finally caught up with AT&T!! Institute at least a 12:1 span of control and downgrade all management by one level!!

Perfectly stated, @ldv+15l8p36e.

They’ll cut 20,000 employees, but the executive perks will remain in place!!!

Why does every VP need a Chief of Staff? Why does every Chief of Staff need 5 or 6 subordinates? Why do VPs get a car allowance, don’t they already make enough? Why does AT&T have as many pilots as a small airline? Why is it necessary to send techs to an executives house to install their computers? Why are executives on TV every week touting a failed strategy?

I only saw big Ed on TV twice in 30 yrs. Never saw big Ed a Davos! Never saw big Ed on CNBC every week! Big Ed never loaded the company up with debt!

If you are a chief of staff and get promoted, you have as much knowledge as a fast food worker.

McSelfish's organization had a chance to squeeze down the management layers but Mr. Guitar collection didn't have the courage to make a really hard decision. He will prune the leaves and leave the big salaries in place. Then he will make sad sounds about the "hard decisions" that he had to make, dumping all the faceless people he has never met. The parasites he bumps into every day will still hang around and collect their huge salaries to write "woke" emails about social problems instead of doing the jobs they were hired for. If their social sentiments were sincere it might be different but they virtue signal to distract everyone from the very real damage they are doing to a once great company. Poseurs every one of them.

Look for mass confusion after the cuts. Management will be generating spreadsheets, PowerPoint org charts and HR will make up new titles and salary bands!!

Teldar Paper, Mr. Cromwell, Teldar Paper has 33 different vice presidents each earning over 200 thousand dollars a year. Now, I have spent the last two months analyzing what all these guys do, and I still can’t figure it out. One thing I do know is that our paper company lost 110 million dollars last year, and I’ll bet that half of that was spent in all the paperwork going back and forth between all these vice presidents. The new law of evolution in corporate America seems to be survival of the unfittest. Well, in my book you either do it right or you get eliminated.
