Because the work will go to someone who will do it for less. People thought it was bad when the H1Bs started to take the IT jobs and work for less, now the skill labor jobs will go to H1B contractors.
Wake up citizens and vote for the people who will stop this.

At&t is just trying to buyout or surplus core techs. Wire techs are cheaper so they will keep a lot of them around for fiber installations.

This coming from one of the guys who calls the prem techs asking which rg do I need to install. You guys are the f'ing worst. You crop all over us and yet you b–ch and whine when you have to go up the pole. Its not our fault you flopped the cable down the entire run. Maybe if you guys didn't f the cable up for so long we would be able to get jobs down. Oh well enjoy working down in title, your 4 hr tickets are coming to an end.

ATTN AT&T employees: your captain has determined that due to his incompetent leadership this ship has hit a giant iceberg and is slowly sinking. To slow the sinking, many of you have been chosen to be thrown overboard.

But rest assured, during these tough times our top leadership team has been provided with enough gold plated lifeboats to ensure their safety and our heroic captain has been allocated a $3,300,000 per year retirement in return for his brave service to the company.

The work will be given to core. Simple as that. It’s not saying WTs are not capable of doing core work but, core can absorb all the work per contract. Not the case the other way around. Eventually the WT title in the SE will be toast. Eventually meaning within a couple years.

I’m sure your work is in high demand. Most residential consumers are after 3 things: video, wireless, broadband. High demand is one thing, but work volume is another. With legacy IPTV sales being sunset recently in the past couple of months and DTV customers running away at warp speed, that only leaves consumer broadband (copper and fiber / VoIP included) and WLL (fixed wireless) for wire and prem techs. I can only assume that surplus activity will continue for you guys beginning in Q4 since the company has setup a voluntary severance program for both core and wire techs in the SE (Don’t know about other regions) starting 7/1/2020 (for wire techs) with an off payroll date of 7/31/2020 which means you probably won’t see any surplus activity in Q3.

I know it's really hard for many to accept, especially during these trying times, but the Captain has announced women and children first. Mostly due to poor piloting we have hit a icy mass and the hull is breached. But we do have a lovely band performing for your comfort and pleasure for the duration of the trip.

Because a lot of the techs are lazy and always looking for an excuse to jep jobs. The completion rate is low. I wish this wasn’t happening but they’ve brought it on themselves by not showing their worth.

Why? because they can and do not care about anything .

@zdq...when it comes to outside techs the revenue comes from DT SSIM. Not a lot of those job titles out there anymore but they are supported by OPTs & FTs in the placement & repair of fiber & SSIM feeds service to System Techs as well. Customers pay hundreds per month on circuits, a lot of them never have trouble reports. System Tech is probably the 2nd largest revenue generator. Uverse brings in pennies on the dollar that SSIM & Sys Techs generate....still hope we all make it through this thing. Best of luck!

Am not taking away from anybody's line of work right now but the only bridge between the company and customer on tech side is WT. It's are time now.

Because you guys are easy to let go and Randall has hosed the company up so bad that they are willing to cut payroll and ignore the trouble & install tickets !
