What's with the disparity between the extra $50,000 for Core techs, and only $5,000 for Wireline techs? I assume that they want to thin the Core ranks more.

Be SURE and defer collecting your pension till end of 2020. Lump is up 6% right now...who knows how much more it will go up! Deferring till the end of the year will give you the new rate and a larger lump!!

Already figured it up for my buddy that has 42 years he’ll get approximately $62,000.00 on the buyout after taxes then after filling next year’s taxes he’ll get approximately another 10k back. So net total will be about $72,000.00 cash which equals more than 1 years take home pay after taxes. He’s jumping on it like a frog on a June bug!

With the company debt load and the environment we are in, it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever see something like this again. Unless you plan on working a several more years it’s kinda foolish not to take it. They can “force in balance” or close your work center down to make y’all move to another exchange and location a lot further away. It’s already happened in my area in Metro Atlanta, some of those guys had 40 plus years, they retired quickly when they were forced to start reporting to Atlanta. No SIPP or additional bonus. Just saying, things are changing fast these days. Take the money and run if your ducks are in a row. I don’t like being dictated to either but if I was a little closer to 62, I’d take in a heartbeat and not look back. I could see my buddy’s at the biscuit house once a week.

Wow, I am jealous:-) I am non-bargained and the MVOs in the past have stunk. Well you all earned what you have through blood, sweat, and tears. Good for you. All the best. We are in for some rough times for sure. I hope this monolith of a airplane can be stabilized and brought down safely else a lot of us will be pitched out in the street.

That's a pretty sweet deal for one who's ready to retire anyway. More than doubles SIPP. So approximately 38k plus 50k or 88k before taxes. Not bad if one is ready.
