There is a buyout brewing for core.

Didn’t hear how much or anything, but there is talk in Dallas about a buyout for bargained for technicians.

“Ahh, the annual buyout thread! Layoffs are so much cheaper, why would there be a buyout? Offer the usual voluntary severance then do the lay-off. The whole surplus reason is to save money, why would they spend more than they needed to spend.”

I stand corrected. Good luck to all!

So it's not sipp +$50k.. it's the AMOUNT you would be eligible for via SIPP + $50K...it's just a payoff, no benefits at all.

I also believe the company did not take government money for covid. Instead they took a 5 billion dollar loan. (More debt )

I didn't think that the company took government bailout money, I thought it was directly through banks. Maybe I'm wrong.

Normally the naysayers on a buyout would be correct but despite the facts been out there and it being signed and approved by the local presidents there are still some doubters. Understand this is a unique time and att if took government stimulus money they won't be able to lay off and the Pr impact of laying off in a down economy would be pretty heavy. This way AT&T can't lower headcount and say it was done voluntarily this way the burden is on the employee not the company.

Just saw the signed SE memo of leaving the payroll voluntarily offer for additional 50k for core techs and 5k for wire techs (net of applicable withholding taxes). Of course contingent on areas selected for reductions and based on seniority. If offered they will have 7 days to accept or decline.

Check the CWA 3805 site for the latest seniority list or contact the 3805 union president. Why do you have to be given instructions on how to accomplish this???

No extended benefits means unlike the job bank you don't continue to receive health benefits you are completely separated from the company.

Att is such a cesspool. They won’t lay off the so called a-holes who never stepped in an office and are so called high performers and who put out c-ap Work but have managed their manager and have them snowed by reports that lie. That is what is wrong with this company. They let go the people who fix these so called geniuses work and others who actually serve customers. Then all these geniuses get moved to cso because cso need geniuses and you are safe in cso. This is the number one problem with att and will be their downfall. Doesn’t take much to be a high performer at att. But if you put out honest hard work you won’t survive at att because you were taught never to put vague false reports and to do work right the way it was suppose to be done.

Not only brewing but approved. The offer is not universal however the company will send out a list of areas that are over headcount. If you are in that area you can request separation. Offer is sipp plus 50,000. No extended benefits. No surplus rest of year if enough go. Wire techs get additional 5,000. List comes out June 15. Then 7 days to request off payroll July 31.

Anyone who knows the outside tech job can do the work without “busting their azz “ that’s what experience gives you. Prem techs missed the entire training experience in the outside copper plant. They will only have a chance going into fiber repair. Moving them into copper repair while the plant transitions to fiber will be very difficult. The prem tech experiment was a failure. You need to be trained by those who came before you. Not a red lobster bus boy.

What do you mean why? To get the old farts that don’t do s—t to get on out of here and retain some of our younger techs with experience.
