Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Jeff stinky stated AT&T is still on track for our investors yet still laying people off

I find it pathetic how in the town hall he stated at the beginning that “even with covid-19 we are still on track to meet our projections”. That may not of been the quote verbatim. However, that’s the gist of it. Nonetheless, the company still profits billions while the people who have been an integral part of that lose sleep hoping they aren’t on the chopping block.
I’m in the retail end of it. That used to be a “safe place”. This time around I’m not so sure it’s safe. He said there’s 11 levels between him and retail sales consultants and all 11 with be affected.
It’s a damn shame that one of the biggest companies in the world, who has had absolutely massive products, brags about said profits in front of all of the employees, and follows it up with saying there will be massive “forced reductions”.

Do better AT&T

The punchline is that cutting the dividend by 50% would mean much much fewer layoffs, helping the company be ready for any new growth.

The dividend is one of the few handles that the owners have to manage Stank and the BOD. If dividend gets cut (for any reason), then Stank and his friends get fired. Period.

The owners don't care about you or whether you get laid off. That's your problem, friend.

Hope that helps!

It's just that time of the cycle. I remember them doing this back in early to mid 80's. Basicly cust the whole 3rd level of management across the whole corp. second lines were reporting to VP's. cut that 11 to about 7.

Of course. Big Stink and Jeffy only care about the stock - especially preserving that dividend! It's the only thing keeping investors interested in this mis-managed company.

The punchline is that cutting the dividend by 50% would mean much much fewer layoffs, helping the company be ready for any new growth.

But hey, Stink and Jeff (and the rest of them) don't care about that. They're just out for themselves.

Yeah, Ratty, Stinky and the Board of Misdirectors sure screwed up Whitacre's work. And Ratty especially profited handsomely for it.

You misunderstood what they stated. They are on track with their wacking projections!

BTW - I see a few more executives retired to pursue other interested yesterday and today. I guess there were stragglers from the end of May group. Only difference is they got their golden parachutes and the rest of us get the boot in the rump.
