Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

July 1

"We will communicate which jobs are being eliminated in the coming weeks"

Layoffs be announced by June 15, out the door by July 1 which is the official retirement date of Randy as well. What's a coincidence.

Love the Office Space reference! Absolutely hilarious. And so, true.

Peter Gibbons: You're gonna lay off Samir and Michael?
Bob Slydell: Oh yeah, we're bring in some entry-level graduates, farm some work out to Singapore, that's the usual deal.
Bob Porter: Standard operating procedure.
Peter Gibbons: Do they know this yet?
Bob Slydell: No. No, of course not. We find it's always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.

I predict June 12, it is a Friday and the news will hit too late to kick the stock, and by Monday no one will care. When I worked in PR the rule was good news Monday morning, bad news Friday afternoon.

Somehow I bet they will still find enough money laying around for stock buybacks and dividends.

Stephenson Paid for Sprint to flourish with that $4B breakup fee and pays record bonuses (at the time). Buys DTV a couple years before the streaming revolution. What's next under Stinky?

Of course it won't allow for anyone to apply and fill an internal opening... only two weeks until you're off the books.

I think the email says weeks AND months ahead.

Business As Usual for the Dallas Exec crew in their echochamber of unoriginal thinking - thus keeping the wolves at bay with salary dumps to keep EPS from tanking.

How could anyone expect the cycle to stop until an actual outsider comes in and washes out the groupthink club altogether?
