Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What is HBOMAX realistic price?

We all know that the current price is ridiculous (which is why there have been no reports yet about the amazing, huge, stupendous numbers of new subscribers. I wonder, what number would it take to really attract viewership to HBOMAX? How much lower would we have to go?

I think that it will be a no-go for as long as we don't have an under $10 option, but that's just me.

I would subscribe for $9.99/month, single user, no commercials.

Since it's free to over 30M + subscribers and people who over pay for mobility and they only got 90K downloads at launch, I say they would have to pay people to use it.

I wouldn’t want it if it was free. Not sure why people are giving up hard earned money for it much less put up with att billing.

$15 is just a teaser price, just watch by end of Q3 or Q4 the price will drift up to $30,$40 /sub , I think that's the minimal needed to make it economically viable.

HBomax is very very late to the OTA game , the landscape is radically different than it was just a year ago. And let's not forget we're headed I to a depression, last thing millennials care about is pay TV when they have to move back in with their parents.

I watch YouTube (not YouTube TV) for FREE on my Apple TV. It's way more entertaining and has way more content for EVERYONE than any other app. When I do want to catch news or "network" content I watch RHEO app, also free. I have the employee $10 a month att tv now app and I don't even watch it. I find myself thinking about canceling that at only 10 dollars. On top of that , you have half of America getting laid off or getting paid substantially less these days.

So why on earth would anyone these days pay a single dollar for tv when there is so much free content ? Hbo max at 15 dollars just shows how out of touch att is. But Ratty Randy can afford it with his pension of 250k a month. He can go ahead and sign himself up.

There won't be enough people to pay for ad supported model. By the time ATT figures out that model studies will show that 98 percent of all youtube ads are completely ignored and the viewer has programmed themselves to completely block out junk ads. Their mind hits a fast forward button. For some reason ATT considers themselves premium and enters a saturated market with a high price point. It was easy to see then and easy to see now that Time Warner acquisition is a dud. Could have been great but with ATTs paws on it they wrecked it and chased off all the talent. Couldn't just leave well enough alone.

The end game is to provide an option at a lower price ( maybe $5) which will include commercials. This is where we plan to make our money, ad revenue. Commercials targeted to the specific subscriber on that account. It has been the dream for years, I recall Verizon talking about targeted commercials back in 1996.
