This is beginning to feel more and more like a panic and a general wind-down of PARTS of the Company. With everything that is happening inside the Company and then looking at everything that is happening outside the Company (no fault of T) paints a pretty bleak future for a lot of us.

5G + IOT + M2M + CRM = large reduction of Field Techs (at least in their theory of things)

It feels like they are trying to grow parts of the business "where the big money is at" and trying to seriously down-size all of the legacy stuff that is drying up over time ALL at the same time.

It must be a 24x7 fire-drill in upper management right now. You could also call this chaos and be pretty accurate I think.

I see no way they can postpone the inevitable beyond say mid September. Good Luck everybody. That's about all that we have left at this point.

I want to be optimistic; However, every more recent attempts to revamp sales front-end apps with external software/suppliers has been a nightmare.....Now that we have lost all of the most knowledgeable IT application expertise of resources with the front-end sales application and business knowledge to IBM (and or already laid off from IBM due to outsourcing to India) What is the chance for success?

as usual, AT&T is last in line to move their sales CRM to cloud.

Just like every other system that ATT had adopted, it's going to be another layer on top of everything else, band-aided and baling wired together. ROME is not going away for example. ATT once again paid full price for a system that were only going to use a sliver of, and then pay even more to try to integrate it, poorly, with the existing systems.

Salesforce is a CRM system that will gradually replace Opus and Atlantis over the next three years. CDEC will also exit and be replaced by Coral.

You are expecting this company to communicate, that is just silly, they will do anything but communicate. This is another attempt by higher ups to buy their way out of a problem, without input from people who knows the in's/out's in the field.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of getting rid of the old and dysfunctional systems, having a clean slate probably isn't a bad idea. I can order a new phone online from Best Buy in less than 2 minutes, and pick up at the store quickly. When you go into a T store for new line or upgrade, you can get the sales rep's life story because the sales and provisioning systems are so damn slow.

The fatal flaw is the people in leadership positions, most of us have very low confidence level for these high paid, low skilled to pull off something as big as a Salesforce implementation. The vendor will get paid handsomely no matter what happens. The rest of us will have to deal with the aftermath, when the sh– hits the fan.
