The bloodletting has started..
Let’s just say when everyone goes back to the office and work resumes as being normal, Charlie will have an easy time swinging the ax b/c of the yahoos wfh surfing on company’s time. The list is growing by the second. In one role @ WF, saw a former employee surf the net the minute they sat down and throughout the day. Stopping to grab lunch or restroom break. This person is high up the ranks. Apparently this person is in cahoots with the boss and is protected. This was going on for 4 yrs!
That time will be up soon.
This thread reminds me of a contracting job that I had at Bank of America many years ago. The contractors were not given access to the internet but the internal employees did have access to the internet. Contractors were not allowed to have access to the internet due to possible "abuse".
Funny story here is that the internal Bank of America employees that I sat next to tended to spend a significant amount of time on the internet searching for new homes, etc. It is not that I was snooping but they were just across from my cube and if I looked their way at all, to get up from the desk, etc. I could clearly see that the Bank of America employees were spending their work time looking for new houses on the internet, etc.
At Wells Fargo, and other companies that I worked for, I find the internet a key learning experience when I have a technical issue to resolve and find the answer on the internet. Internet is a great technical resource. Code examples, trouble shooting program error messages, etc. Essential technical tool for my job.
You be surprised how many do use the corporate laptops to surf the net ... vacations, shopping, fantasy sports, gambling, etc.
Midas are you citing knowledge of WF, or are you just speculating based on the NYT article.
Who the hell uses their corporate laptop for anything other than work? I have me personal laptop right next to my work laptop. My corporate Internet surfing is at zero.
You can’t use social media on the corporate laptop (LinkedIn excluded).
